Clearly ODU will be favored to win the Marshall - VA Tech game.

I'd say Marshall will be a 5.5 or 6 point dog to open and it will move to about 8.

VaTech will be favored.
But yes, Marshall will win by 36

Or 3
Or 6

Which means both teams win. I had to read that title twice to figure out it was ODU.

Posted from mobile device. Hopefully it's coherent.

Opened at 4.5 for VPI, and seems to be settling in at 3.5.

http://www.vegasinsider.com/college-foot...e/12-01-18

Seems that most are predicting Hokies win based on their desperation to not miss out on a bowl... completely ignoring the fact that they're in that position *because* they're just not that good in the first place... and the fact that any enthusiasm boost VPI gains as a result of the desperation is neutered by the fact that non-autonomous schools naturally crave opportunities like this to prove themselves worthy.

I do think it's an interesting match-up.

I've got it Marshall 31 Tech 27... Brady gets 2 TDs and 100+ yds receiving, and our defense clearly outplays theirs.

By transitive property, we beat VaTech and FSU this year. Thanks, Monarchs!

Well, WKu was favored to win the Rice-ODU game last week, so that makes sense: 03-wink

Rice beat ODU this past weekend, so therefore, Rice should be ranked....oh wait, we are ranked:

The coveted top of the 2018 Bottom 10 is decided

Quote:7. Minute Rice(I prefer the Rice Ouch!) (2-11)

Rice entered the weekend ranked in the top Bottom 10 spot but then did the unthinkable and earned their second victory of the year. So if you're scoring at home, Rice, ranked No. 1 in the Bottom 10, beat Old Dominion, which beat Virginia Tech, which beat Virginia (in the actual Commonwealth Cup), which beat Duke, which not only beat Northwestern, a team that beat Purdue, which beat Ohio State, but also beat Army, who took might-be Big 12 champ Oklahoma into OT. Yes, that's how thin the margin is between the Bottom 10 and Top 10. Thin as a grain of rice.

and here:

Bottom 25 college football rankings: UConn, Louisville headline 2018 playoff field
(look for your favorite CUSA teams here, also!)

Quote:9. Rice 2-11 Rice entered the final weekend of the season as a practical shoo-in to make the playoff. All it had to do was not beat Old Dominion. Well, Rice beat Old Dominion 27-13. (last week: 2)

The home cooking that poor Marshall will be the recipient of on Saturday will be awful.

You know, we have gotten the royal schlong at a couple of ACC schools we have visited, but I thought is was the least bad at VPI.

Talked with a couple of vt alumni today at a social and they were both in agreement that they didn't care if they lost to Marshall since they beat uva. That was more important to them than a bowl streak.

I'd be happier to hear that you talked to a couple of vt players, of course. Just out of curiosity, were the alums intending to show up for the game, though?

ya, I hear ya.

uhhh one of them might. I know my boss will be there. He's at just about every home VT game. We have a pretty large VT alumni base in our office but we're in VA Beach so a lot of our younger alumn's probably don't go to as many of the games as our older folks.

Last night we had the ODU Dean of Engineering in our office doing a thank you for your support and presentation/update on what's happening in the college. We have a handful of people who went to VT for undergrad and ODU for grad and there was a good amount of ribbing going on related to how much better ODU is than VT in not only Engineering results in the state but also... football. It was a nice moment.
