Well, thats not as bad as it sounds once you think about it a bit There are currently 3 champ vs champ bowls.

There are only 10 FBS conferences, so the maximum champ vs champ bowls is just 5. One G5 champ is always going to the access bowl--so your really looking at a maximum of 4 champ-vs-champ bowls most years. Im kinda surprised they didnt bumble into a champ vs champ matchup in the semi-finals. That would have made 4 (which is actually the maximum most years due to the G5 access bowl).

Well, with Notre Dame in the playoffs, only one semifinal could have a champ vs champ matchup, and it does - the Orange Bowl.

BTW, i didn't mean to say the small number of champ vs champ bowls games was bad. It just struck me as noteworthy that this bowl had that kind of matchup.

what an incredible story for UAB....

UAB puts up the most yards and 2nd most points of NIU’s 14 opponents with the OOC teams being Utah, Iowa, Florida St, & BYU.

Boca is a great place to bowl. Really nice stadium and fanfare too. Maybe we we can make it back here one day. Go Blazers!

I didnt really think that. It struck me as odd at first that there were only 3 such games---but once you think about it--you realize that you can only have 5---and most of the time 4 is actually the maximum.
