Basketball- biggest surprises/most disappointing so far?
So for me-
biggest surprise- maybe Louisville? Mack is good- but he's got them playing really well.. Could easily be 11-1 right now, but still 9-3 isn't bad...…

biggest disappointment- on a conference level- obviously Pac 12....

for a team- WVU. 7-4 and ranked in the NET before yesterdays 2 point win over SE Missouri St 123. SE Missouri St was 284. So WVU could easily be lower than 130 tomorrow...…

anyone else with thoughts? OOC play all but over now....

RE: Basketball- biggest surprises/most disappointing so far?
Surprises:
Furman - They’ve won 23 games each of the last 2 years. But who expected them to be this good? Blue collar team tough as nails.
Belmont - 15 RPI. Beat UCLA. “But Belmont’s always good”. Except this year’s team starts 3 freshmen.
Lipscomb - Belmont’s bitter crosstown rival. Another good team last year. Only losses to Louisville and Belmont - by no more than 4. Beat TCU, SMU, & Vermont.
Penn - Yeah, they were good last year and play in the sport’s most historic venue. But only 2 losses (Kansas St, Oregon St) and wins over Villanova and Miami? Woah.
Drake - Returned 1 player from their rotation. 10-2 with losses to Colorado and Iowa State. Just beat NMSU and San Diego. New coach might be working a miracle with a team put together at the 11th hour.
San Francisco - Maybe they’re not in the midst of back-to-back national titles, but 11-1 and 26 NET. Wins over Stanford/Cal. Lone loss to Buffalo. ASU cancelled. Good thing they get Gonzaga, Saint Mary’s, BYU, San Diego twice. WCC is killing it.
Seattle - WCC snub is 9-3 with a win over Wazzu and losses to Washington, Stanford, & Southern Utah.
NJIT - 10-2 and a sneaky tough game for undefeated Houston Saturday. Ask Michigan.

Disappointments:
Western Kentucky - Good wins over West Virginia, Saint Mary’s, and Arkansas. But 6 losses? The window is now when you’re the pinnacle of mid major recruiting.
Loyola - Get that only 3 players are upperclassmen, but 6-6 after returning 3 starters from a Final 4 team? Offense is dismal.
Boise - 261 RPI. Lost to Idaho State. After 6 20+ win seasons. Remember when they were an at large a few years ago?
Saint Bonaventure - At large to 315 RPI. WTF? Enigma of the year.
Tulane - 3 RPI 300+ losses: South Alabama (by 21), Towson (by 18), & Alabama A&M (by 8). Woof.
Illinois State - Advertised the most talented team in school history - better than the one 2 years ago snubbed from an at-large. 4 Senior starters. Not even top 200.
Florida Gulf Coast - 26, 22, 22, 21, 26, 23 wins the last 6 years. 3-9 start.
Metro Atlantic - 30th ranked and 37-86. Wasn’t that long ago Iona garnered an at-large bid.

VT women's team is 12-0 and unranked. Should squeak into the top 25 this week.

VT's men's team is 10-1 and ranked 13 in both major polls but was expected to be good this year.
