Sources: Bama negotiating buyout with Johnson

The Columbia sports talk station is the flagship for the Gamecock radio network. Just before the SEC tourney one of their hosts, Heath Cline, was talking about how there was mutual desire in Tuscaloosa for a divorce. He made it sound like Johnson was looking at a NBA front office type job rather than continuing to coach.

Yeah, Heath's been way out in front of this one for a while now, at least for a few weeks. I know hes on 107.5 but IMO he does one of the best jobs around, the rest of the guys there are mostly terrible.

South Dakota State's TJ Otzelberger is apparently a finalist for the UNLV job. He has deactivated his Twitter account.

If LSU opens up (which is a strong possibility), that will mean that the SEC will have had openings at Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt. Pretty crazy, considering the league got seven bids in the tournament this year.

League has absolutely improved its reputation and standing in the past few years (a major testament to Mike Tranghese, IMO).

I am so effing glad Tulane took care of business fast and got someone decent.

This was not the "transfer window" to F around in.

I like Tommy Moody because of his knowledge of various sports, but the rest of the talent outside of him and Heath suck. The morning show was horrible when it had Benji, it's even worse now.

I agree. Good get for the Cougars.

San Francisco is expected to promote associate head coach Todd Golden.

They wouldn't get him but for obvious reasons San Francisco should try to get Tony Bennett

1st WCC coach to leave of his own accord(read, not fired or pushed out like Rose from BYU) since Don Monson and Lorenzo Romar.

That’s crazy.

Of course Bill Grier had a PAC 12 offer after leading San Diego over UConn into Round 2 in Year 1 but elected to stay with the Toreros. His star PG then conspired with gamblers in a point shaving scheme. Grier was a good coach whose career got absolutely screwed by that guy and never recovered.

Honestly, it's not all that surprising. Randy Bennett and Mark Few have really been the only ones that I recall have performed well enough to receive major interest, however, both seem to be happy with where they are currently.
