That could just mean that Alabama's run in the SEC under Saban is even more impressive, because they have been consistent winners in a conference with many heavy hitters and have been the second or third best team every time another team won the conference. They're consistently winning with a higher degree of in-conference difficulty than teams who are consistently at the top of other conferences.
That was part of my premise exactly. Alabama and OSU have more impressive programs than Clemson, despite Clemson getting two of the last three.

That's not what I was saying. What Bama has done in conference, consistently, is more impressive because they have a higher degree of difficulty. But even though Clemson and Ohio State have easier rides in conference than Bama does, there have been seasons, including this past season obviously, when one of them had a better team.
