The UCF wailing banshees have finally been silenced.

What was remarkable about the LSU win was that it clearly exposed that UCF lacks the talent to be regarded as playoff worthy. As LSU's All-American MLB said, UCF was just a speed team, they had no physicality.

It was obvious that LSU had more talent in its second and third peels of the depth chart onion than UCF had in its first string.

That lack of depth is HUGE in the grand scheme.

If UCF had to play a P5 schedule that would become even more obvious. There may be a couple teams in the G5 that are quality opponents, but they lack the talent and depth of most P5 schools. Having to play against superior talent and depth on a week to week basis will result in more chances for injuries.

UCF was like that high performance car you see on posters. Looks great. Will probably out run other cars on a limited basis, but if you had to drive it DAILY, it wouldn't hold up.

Yes, and even beyond formal injuries, there is definitely a bang up, wear and tear effect that teams in the top conferences experience that teams in the G5 just are not exposed to. E.g., even if a Wisconsin beats an Iowa or a Penn State, your starters will be sore and banged up just from clashing heads with and having to run with the other team's top athletes. And experiencing that week after week runs their batteries down. They can't stay fresh.

In contrast when UCF plays teams like Tulsa and Tulane and ECU and really everyone in the AAC but a Houston or maybe a South Florida, they don't experience anything like that. Their starters are just a lot fresher and don't depreciate as much as the season progresses.

Do P5 teams have more injuries than G5 teams?

Exposed? UCF lost by 8 points to an LSU team that will finish in the top 10. The same LSU team that trounced Georgia. UCF did this with a backup RS freshman QB, instead of our star quarterback. (Granted LSU was missing multiple players too).

"Granted"? LSU was missing WAY more talent in the game than UCF was. LSU started the game down five defensive starters (one was suspended until halftime) and then lost their All-American safety for the game early in the 2nd quarter. They played the whole game without their entire starting secondary.

And UCF was extremely lucky to lose by "only" 8. Statistically the game was a total rout - 45 minutes possession to 15, 32 first downs to 17, 550 yards to 250 yards. Heck UCF only scored that last TD because a sack of the UCF quarterback that would have put you in like a 3rd and 25 situation at your 15 was converted in to a first down at midfield thanks to 30 yards in LSU penalties that had zero to do with the play.

UCF was manhandled, it was obvious they just didn't have anywhere near the athletes LSU had.

We lost a game against a top 10 team, so did several other top teams.

I agree that without our star quarterback, we are not playoff caliber. With him, I think we could be. Addtionally, this years team was not as good as last years. This ends up being our 3rd best team behind 2017 & 2013. Ironically, we lost the NY6 game where we were matched up against the lowest ranked opponent. In 2013 we beat Big 12 champ Baylor and 2017 SEC West Champ Auburn.

You star QB being in the game isn't going to change the fact that your defense got dominated from the start of the game by an average LSU offense and made Joe freaking Burrows look like Joe Montana. LSU's receivers were able to slice and dice your secondary.....imagine what would have happened if you had faced Higgins/Ross/Renfrow of Clemson, Boykin/Claypool/Finke of Notre Dame, Juedy/Waddle/Ruggs of Alabama, or Brown/Lamb/Morris of OU. It would have been ugly.

Sliced and diced the secondary and they won by 8. Against a freshman QB.

Almost 400 yards through the air and four touchdowns. Made a pedestrian at best QB look like an NFL Pro Bowler. Yeah, sliced and diced fits.

Any of the QB's in the playoff would have went 500 yards+ on that "defense".

Nobody ever won a football game based on yards. Only thing that counts is points, and LSU had a grand total of 8 more points.

Primarily because LSU kept shooting themselves in the foot in the redzone and settled for FGs. Stuff like Burrow fumbling the snap then fumbling it again on first and goal have nothing to do with UCF's defense and everything to do with LSU's mediocre offense.

Yep.

This thread will go on for quite a while.

Which is the evidence UCF has arrived - P5 fans can’t stop talking about Central Florida.

I like you, but get real. The only place anyone even hears about UCF is on message boards where AAC fans post. Other than that they are wholly irrelevant in the daily affairs of most P5 fans.

Furthermore their A.D.'s views on scheduling mean their opportunities to prove themselves will be even fewer moving forward. No exposure means fewer top recruits. It's not a recipe for long term success.

By the way, it's 2019 and time to move on. Thread Closed.

P.S. There will be plenty of time to discuss UCF in another thread topic and much later in 2019, especially if they put together another string of wins.
