On an extremely sad not, Purdue auperfan Tyler Trent passes away

Quote:I thought this was coming because Tyler did not look good at the Music City Bowl last Friday. I think there was also a clue to his health as there was no in-game interview like there was against Ohio State and Indiana. He made it back home and apparently passed away earlier today.
Tyler is still a great inspiration, however. One of his final acts was to work on a book about the incredible upset over Ohio State and how he hoped to help upset cancer int he long run. he has inspired millions aroundd the country, and proceeds from his book will go towards cancer research as he had a final goal of raising more than $1 million.
You have fought hard, Tyler. May you rest easy. May God Bless your family and your legacy live on.

It was very sad to hear this earlier this evening. There really are no words of comfort to offer. When you know people who lose children to childhood cancer the best thing you can do for them is simply to be present and listen. It can break families apart, or bring them closer together, but the hole that exists in their lives is never filled, holidays are never the same, and many times surviving children feel isolated. They are afraid to discuss the death but are left feeling very vulnerable. After all if Mom & Dad couldn't save their brother or sister then just how safe are they? Prayers for his family are in order and for the families you might know who have quietly suffered such a loss. Giving to the research is a positive thing to do when you're touched by such a story. But for those close by who have lost a child, don't leave them to their isolation. Be a friend and listen. Eventually they'll talk. When they do they aren't looking for answers. They just need to get their own feelings out in the open. That's how their coping begins.
