Now if USM decided they wanted to be more regional, I think the Sun Belt would add them.

They had a bad experience with the Southland, which is too bad, because it's a pretty good geographic fit.

The WAC is a stretch. I can't see them signing up for multiple flights to the West. Yes, Tulsa has a decent-sized airport, but it's not a hub. Going west from there usually involves a stop in DFW, Denver, or maybe Phoenix. They may have one direct flight per day to LAX. Vegas isn't an issue for them, but the multiple flights to the West probably are.

ORU's dream would be to join the MVC, where cross-town rival Tulsa spent most of its history. There are many reasons why that won't happen, one of which is that the MVC would rather move east than west.

At this time, the Summit is the best option for them. They're going to be in a one-bid basketball league regardless, and their baseball team has a great chance to qualify for the NCAA tournament most years in the Summit.

As for the original subject, the UALR consultant recommended correctly. Football is a bad idea for them, for all the reasons mentioned above.

Tulsa airport offers 19 non stop flights 6 of which are to WAC destination cities. LA,Vegas, PHX, KC, StL, Chicago. Rest would have to be connection flights. Seattle, NMSU, UTRGV, and bus from SLC to St, George.

That's a long bus trip. Vegas to StG is much much shorter.

The consensus on the Sun Belt board seems to be USM and Marshall would be the 2 programs worth adding should they choose to join the Sun Belt.

There are many options that aren't entertained, but should be.

For instance, if UTA and LR were to relocate to a basketball league, that would open up all sorts of things, like Rice and UNT switching over to the SBC, a move that would increase SBC stability greatly, help you guys out in your battle with your friends down I-20, and bring in the Houston market to the SBC equation.

Texas-Arlington is in the SBC because North Texas left. C-USA will have to become toxic to North Texas on its own for North Texas to move back.

I reaffirm this belief

They make great travel partners with ArkSt and Texas St. Without the BBonly schools the travel schedule would be more difficult. Texas State just had over 6k at their home game against UTA.

TBF it's not like UTA brought a bunch of fans or that our fans get up for the games against them. The stars just aligned for us to have a great crowd against them.
