MBB Postseason Awards
https://tribeathletics.com/news/2019/3/7...onors.aspx

Congrats to all our guys who were very appropriately rewarded for representing the Tribe so well on and off the court!

Way to go Nate on first team and Paul on the leadership award along with Justin for third team and Chase for all rookie team (I will still take Chase over every other freshman player in the CAA).

March on Tribe, let’s go roast some blue hens!

Any precedent for having six players on the all CAA 1st team? Also six on the 3rd team.

Win Shares:

Horton 2.2
Wynter 2.1
Audige 2.0

PER:

Wynter 15.4
Audige 15.3
Horton 15.2

That's really close. Advanced metrics are still blunt instruments, so a difference of .2 win shares is negligible. Wynter played more minutes and racked up some more counting stats with a higher usage rate. That swung the argument in his favor with the voters. Audige was better defensively. You can make solid arguments for any of those 3 as ROY.

Two ties. I'm guessing between Brantley and Cacok for the first team.

Here is my post from the Nathan Knight thread, from about 3 weeks ago:

Well, it would not be unprecedented to have 6 guys make 1st Team. It has happened twice (I think, due to ties in the voting).

2004: First Team - Domonic Jones, VCU; Alex Loughton, ODU; Adam Hess, W&M; Kenny Adeleke, Hofstra; Phil Goss, Drexel; Jai Lewis, Mason

2016: First Team: Ron Curry, JMU; Chris Flemmings, UNCW; Juan’ya Green, Hofstra; Rokas Gustys, Hofstra; Omar Prewitt, W&M; David Walker, NU

Put all three on.

Am I alone in being unimpressed by Wynter? I thought he was the 3rd best Fr we played against this year but clearly he must have looked better in other games.

Looking at WS from conference games (where everyone is playing the same teams) the stats look like this:

1.5 Audige
1.1 Wynter
0.7 Horton
0.6 Toews

All I know is no one will care who won this award over the next three years when Audige clearly establishes himself as the cream of the crop of that class in the CAA.

You guessed right. Buie and Demir tied for the last Third Team spot. If 15 players were honored, both of them would have missed it, but they weren't going to have a Second Team of 4 players because of the tie above.

Milon got 4 votes for the CAA teams, which was tied for 23rd.

Audige was third for Rookie of the Year and fourth for Rookie Team, which have separate voting. Wynter was first in both and Toews was second in both. Horton got more Rookie Team votes, but Audige got more for Rookie of the Year. Parker, the fifth member of the Rookie team, was way behind the top four for Rookie Team, and didn't get any Rookie of the Year votes. The Rookie of the Year votes were 17 for Wynter, 10 for Toews, 7 for Audige, and 6 for Horton.

Buie won Defensive Player of the Year with 16. Knight had 14, and nobody else had more than 2. Audige got 1. I have the votes for the last five seasons, and Audige was the only one to get a Rookie of the Year vote and Defensive Player of the Year vote.

Buie was first for Defensive Team, and Knight was second. Audige got 12 votes to rank him 12th.

For Player of the Year, JWF won unanimously. Each school had 2 voters who could not vote for their own players, and both Hofstra voters voted for Pusica.

Shaver was fourth with 1 vote for Coach of the Year. Mihalich won with 30, Coen got 7, and Ingelsby got 2.

Sixth Man had five players get votes, and you didn't have any.

https://s3.amazonaws.com/sidearm.sites/w...allcaa.pdf has the voting, and it's from your website, so I'm thankful to your SID or whoever. Hofstra had the voting last season, but not this season. None of UNCW, Charleston, and Elon had the votes either. Your website was the fifth one I tried.

Some tough omissions there. Santa Ana was a killer all year on what was basically a two-man team. I'm much more afraid of playing against Donnell Gresham and Bolden Brace than Matt Lewis or Troy Harper.

Not sure how Knight didn't win defensive player of the year... I guess getting steals is more important than blocks and defensive rebounds...

I do find all this talk about rookies with no mention of Kai quite amusing. All guys mentioned are certainly deserving of the discussion, but so is Kai.

Still think he's the best rookie
