BC1, whom I trust and resides in Oil Trough AR, recommended the area.

No, he recommended South Memphis.

Anywhere in south or north Memphis as well as Frayser and Whitehaven are spectacular areas to stay. Lots to do and easy to get out and walk around.

One question for the locals. I'm sure you can't go wrong with bars on Beale street, but most of us are basketball junkies. What are the best places for lots of TVs to watch other games? What are the best sports bars?

And I've been told I have to try Gus'.

None of those things but I suggest finding time to get to BarBQ Shop.

Nice! Let us know what your experience is like. I don't know anyone who has ever stayed there. Does it "feel" like a hotel? Are the other rooms all rented out too, or is kind of alone up there?

I worked for AutoZone Finance in Downtown Memphis for 3+ years. If you can land a room with Westin Beale St. Memphis, then take it.

Out of my price range lol

i'm still here?

Bank a hotel away from downtown Memphis. You can land great Hotels outside downtown Memphis. Give me a minute to think. You might get a great deal.

I have something out east from downtown that isn't bad and will drive down. Can pay alot of parking for downtown prices of 2-350/night. Traveling down by myself this trip so I don't require something over the top.

What part of town if you don't mind saying?

There IS a place in south Memphis I go routinely when I'm back in Memphis, Interstate BBQ on So 3rd (or whatever it's named these days) just north off I255. IMO, the best BBQ in town - although there are many very good ones.

It is definitely a hotel. The rooms wrap the whole level facing out into the store and are separated from the rest of the place. You can only access through the lobby off the main entrance. Several large public spaces and private patios outside on the corners. I was impressed with the setup

Can you shoot me a Google Map? I can recommend roads to avoid while parking.

There are plenty of public parking garages downtown around the FEF. Just bring cash, they're usually going to cost you at least $5-$6/ game. We have no bridge nor road tolls in Memphis.

Good to know there are parking garages. 5 or 6 dollars is surprising and if that cheap will take it. I am use to parking around arenas not less than 10 and 20 or more

Large surface lots just south of the forum. Seems I've paid $10 to park there in the past

Max's or the green beetle on south main. Max's is closer on Patterson and south Main. There's also a place on union called russwood park but I haven't been there

What do you like? Some of the best Italian outside of Italy is in Memphis. Chicken - Gus'. Good steaks, French- continental, catfish... Memphis has good food, high collar, blue collar....all types. And BTW, the restaurant at the top of the Bass Pro Shop is very good & has the best view in town.

Bryant's on Summer Ave. for breakfast or the best southern style plate lunches around. You won't need to eat for hours later.
