If Dooley can lift one of the bottom teams significantly, I could see it.

I think its becasue we have 3-5 teams that could feasibly get to the tournment in a year where UConn, Memphis, and Wichita are all not top echelon teams. Memphis and UConn will likley be MUCH better next year. I also doubt Wichita will be bad 2 years is a row. Assuming the current crop of top teams holds steady---the AAC could be an absolute beast next year.

The Big East gets $$$ but their exposure is basically nothing. I don’t think I’ve even watched a Big East game this year.

If you look at the NET rankings for the top 4 teams in each conference, the American already surpassed the Big East.

They've been on FOX for their featured games. Everyone gets that.

FS1/FS2 (especially) are hard to find.

True. But Houston probably won't go 28-2 next year.

And UCF will take a sizable step back losing their best player ever (Taylor), their difference maker (Fall), and two key senior reserves. Lose four of the top 7 scorers.

So the top teams holding steady part is probably not a fair assumption.

Memphis and WSU will pop back up next season. UCF might slip a bit, but I don't think the AAC loses a bid for it.

Villanova lost today and hopefully Georgetown can give Marquette its fourth straight loss. I'd love to see zero top 25 Big East teams.

Memphis is already a top 50 net ranked team this year. Next year Memphis and UConn are bringing in top 20 recruiting classes .... at least. Right now, as it stands, Memphis recruiting class is 6th nationally. Cincinnati and Houston should be good again. Wichita State should be better. Add Memphis and UConn and I can see what he saying.

ucf will take a step back, but should atleast still be NIT good next year... dawkins (2nd best scorer), bertz (best shooter), smith (#2 big, that owned houston),allen (best perimeter defender) all come back

houston wont be 28-2 but we'll still be top 25 good... UC should be better (and likely to pick up a juco or grad transfer point)...temple only loses alston, but has a 18pt per transfer siting out

lets not forget USF is return literally everyone, and has a top 75 guard sitting out

Point taken--though I think Houston will continue to be quite good. But I think the big development is the emergence of a solid mid-core of teams like Houston, SMU, Tulsa, UCF, and USF to ensure excellent depth in the AAC. I always thought that the UConn/Memphis/Wichita/Cinci/Temple group would be the consistent upper tier elite teams that would power AAC basketball. The problem thus far has been the elite basketball schools (with the exception of Cinci) have not performed as well or as consistently as I expected. Next year looks like a year where we might get a peek of what it looks like to have a solid mid-core with the elite programs looking more like elite programs.

So did Marquette. 4 in a row.

Will the Big East even have a ranked team on Monday? Talk about a lot of hot garbage. They're basically the MAAC, a group of equally mediocre ragtags.

I have not been impressed with Marquette all year. I've said for weeks they and KU are the two most overrated teams in the Top 25 and both teams continue to prove me right.

Neither of them are bad teams per say, but neither are legit top 15 either....and esp. KU.

Absolutely this.

Watching Marquette piss away leads has been hilarious to watch. It almost looks fixed with how bad it is. And 3 of the 4 losses have been at home too.

KU is the most overrated team in history. No question there.
