houston isnt a suprise for anyone who followed houston, even before last season season ended sampson has been saying this season would be better .... the people saying houston would be worse are outside people who really only knew gray and thought we'd take a big hit becuase he left or people looking for a reason for us to be bad

Well count me as one that didn't think we'd actually win the conference at the start. I figured the coaches that voted us 3rd all knew something we fans didn't. Ya I figured we'd contend like heck for it but felt we would inevitably Coog-It somewhere along the line. It wasn't just because we lost Gray but Devon as well, but if you think about how vastly improved Galen was this year on his free throws and 3-pointers to help fill Gray's shoes, I totally didn't see that coming at all. I think Galen gets a ton of credit for leading this team to many of our wins this season.
And if you remember Dejon's first game of the season finally, it left me wondering what all his hype was about. lol sorry, it just wasn't very impressive, but now? Man, he's gonna be a beast running things next year as the starting point.
So I was very much pleasantly surprised the Coogs dominated the conference and had not one single Coog-It game this year.

I feel like the same stuff is said every year about Houston. We lose Dot, UH won’t be good. We lose Rob Gray and Devin Davis, UH won’t be good. We’ll lose Corey Davis and Galen Robinson, UH won’t be good. I actually think we’ll be better next year than we were this year. Just thinking about another year of growth for Dejon Jarreau and Nate Hinton puts a really big smile on my face. Those two along with Armoni Brooks and Caleb Mills gives us the best guard rotation in the conference. It’s going to be a lot of fun next season.
100% agree with your post ^^^
Absolutely nothing wrong with players coach Sampson is currently recruiting to Houston although I would love it if coach Sampson went after a dominant center, some one like Hakeem Olajuwon. My

LOL. how many Hakeem Olajuwon have you seen in your lifetime? I've seen only one including his time with the Gougers and Rockets...
If he can find another one, all the best of wishes... I'll expect Natty Trophies.

I think the folks that followed and believed in what Coach Gregory and staff were doing thought USF would be much improved this year. However, nobody...including myself would have guessed a potential 20 wins season. I knew this was a different team in how they played Georgetown early in the year. Hit a couple FTs and USF wins that game in regulation.
Future looks bright.

No they don't, but Houston doesn't need a future NBA Hall of Farmer at the center position to win big, they just need a good big Man and continue doing what Coach Sampson is already doing.
I'm not worried about Houston's future, I'm more concerned with how Temple reacts to the coaching changes.

Agreed. The game is more guard driven these days anyway. I hope Temple has a smooth regime change. Yall have a great brand and really help legitimize this conference.
