He had a heckuva second half last night. Couldn't miss. Fun to watch.

RE: Reset Page - MBB
Hopefully, this comment is in the spirit of the "reset" thread.
As I've stated before, the name of the new coach is not among the top items I am looking for right now.
First, I am looking for increased funding for MBB.
Second, I am looking for improved facilities for MBB.
Third, I am looking for a quick hire, like by the time of the Basketball Dinner.
Fourth, I am looking for someone who can build on what has been built over the last 16 years.
Fifth, I want a coach who can keep the current squad together (and maybe even retain Pierce) along with Cam Brown and nail that open schollie in May or June. There are others who are more expert in recruiting (that's an understatement) and I was under the impression that we were in early contention for a dynamite 2020 recruiting class. If so, let's get a coach who can reel them in.
If the College does items one, two and three, then I guess they earn the right to switch coaches. My opinion of that change belongs on the other threads.
OTOH, if they expect better results without changing support for the program, then they are making a serious mistake. If they decide to forgo additional $$$ for the program but change admissions criteria so we are bringing in folks who don't graduate, then what have we become?

Jamion is from New Kent, but has a $1 mill buyout at Siena, as if our budget issues aren't difficult enough.
With 24+ openings already and growing, including GW, Wake Forest, St. Joe's, competition is heating up fast.
I hope for the program's sake, Huge did already have an all but announced choice prior to not retaining Tony. If not, then I'm afraid we will be sailing away from the mark very quickly, and the change will be an even bigger mistake. JT III and Nathan Davis would have been in striking distance of the CAA women's tournament this past weekend. Odom would have been in Vermont.
Odom's base salary is $425,000 with a lot of additional incentives, plus his buyout is $225,000/year. I see Wake Forest, in his Dad's path (if not Mike Young.)
Levelle Moton and UVA's Jason Williford are other names, but if we are having to move further down the totem pole, then I dunno.
Danny Manning’s buyout is $17 million at Wake. I don’t think he’s leaving yet. Ryan Odom is a wonderful coach. He played for Tony Shaver at Hampden-Sydney. I don’t consider Huge to be a big fan of Tony Shaver right now, and Ryan Odom probably isn’t a big fan of Huge either. BTW, when Shaver was coaching D-III Hampden Sydney, he beat William & Mary in 1995, even though he had no scholarship players. Decent coach! W&M’s Program has come a long way since then.

Good for him if so. I think we all thought he wasn't very likely for here anyways, but that would reduce that even more.

I would hope Jamion is not involved with any change this year. Despite the transiency and money in the world of NCAA athletics, to turn around and leave players and recruits after only one year is not a quality move. Unless, you are returning to your alma mater, family home, or have a jump to the top of the college program ladder. And I'm not sure the latter is even worthy.

Looks like Jamion will be the next GW coach. Wonder if he will add Julian back to his staff.

Now official. A lot of negative feedback after staying only one year at Siena. No doubt that will be repeated often by coaches in recruiting battles.
Who knows, maybe the JTIII connection is more real than we think.

Which is why I am not sure the hire will be JT3. If it was him, we could have announced it already. On the other hand, maybe he is interested but is holding out to see if he can get a better job (lots of openings out there).

I don't think Huge had a coach figured out ahead of time. It would have been announced already.

I would have thought she did but must agree as each day passes it seems less likely.

I've always heard here that there is a VA hiring rule that prevents an immediate announcement. Does anyone know if that's true and, if so, how long the position has to be held open?

Unless it’s a done deal behind the scenes, but the state process must be followed. (And the advisory group consulted, of course).
(Zablenoise beat me to it — great minds, etc.)

Good point, checking the job postings on the College site and does not show the job for whatever that is worth. it does show that job postings seem to be for 30 days.

RE: Reset Page - MBB
I found no posting when I looked earlier, either, but I did find a listing for VMI's Head Soccer Coach which was posted 3 weeks ago, and it stated applications accepted until position filled. So, it is possible an obligatory posting was made and it has already been removed due to the position being filled and pending final approval and announcement. Maybe someone with knowledge knows what the internal requirements are for approval of a head coach hire (just AD, AD and President, AD and President and Rector, or whether in this case the BOV Executive Committee would have to approve, also.) At the $$ level of a head basketball coach, I can easily imagine final approval having to come from all levels.
I did find a listing of interest posted just 3 weeks ago for Senior Associate Athletic Director for Advancement....."is the lead fundraiser for Tribe Athletics, responsible for the leadership & strategy for private philanthropy for Tribe Athletics."
