Of course it’s a real rivalry. Other American rivalries include:
The Red Drum Rivalry between Cincinnati and Temple going back to 1904
The War on I-4 between UCF and USF
The Texas Madhouse between Houston and SMU
The Clown Car Clash between ECU and Memphis
The Dump between Tulane and Tulsa
There’s a few others I cannot remember off the top of my head.

I kinda liked the Civil Conflict rivalry myself but UCF fans were downplaying it.

It's the most prestigious rivalry in our conference. even the trophy is kept in a secure/unknown location.

Nope, it’s a joke that’s gone on for too long.

You'd think UCF fans would be jacked up with this rivalry that they're leading 4-2.

I see where you're coming from though, Utah doesn't view BYU as a rival anymore either now that they stink and we've spanked them for 8 years straight or so.

I like it. Unfortunately we don’t bring it to the games anymore, I mean what’s the point?

I mean you read the history of how it started right? We had no say in it. We have our rivals and UCONN had none. Diaco decided on a whim UCF should be their rival without any real real reason other than they needed one. UCF didn't outright object to it at first, our staff was mostly just confused. Fans escalated the "rivalry" after we left the trophy on the field after beating UCONN, you know...cause we weren't in on the joke/rivalry.

After that though, fans have made the forced rivalry into a hilarious annual stunt that does make me laugh. It's got a dumb name, a dumb trophy and it's absurd origins do make it hilarious, at least to me. It's certainly not a real rivalry per se, but it's a real and funny college football story and that's enough for me to enjoy our annual faceoff. 04-cheers

The conFLiCT is back on this weekend. UConn is 8-4 vs UCF in baseball the past 4 years though, so it means much more to them.

Longest football rivalry in teh conference. Houston has played Tulsa more times than any other team in its history. Tulsa has played Houston 43 times behind only Arkansas and Oklahoma St at 73 each.

I believe the only longer running in conference rivalry is Wichita St and Tulsa in basketball. Which started play in 1931 and is a 129 games long.

Cincy and Memphis have been playing each other for a while too. Tulsa has played Cincinnati for a while but wasn't really continuously after they left the valley.

2 points for not putting on a hypocrisy clinic by listing your rivals.

I actually think the UCF - ECU rivalry is one of the better in our conference. True, ECU has stunk things up over the last 3 years. But we've played 17 times since 1991 with some heated battles for CUSA titles, and one where UCF broke our QB's, leg in 1992 (Michael Anderson). He was a stud on the heels of Jeff Blake (ECU Pro Bowler). Ended his career.

ECU leads the series 10-7.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Carol...ll_rivalry

Our oldest rivals are Virginia Tech and Southern Miss dating back to the 1950s, which is partly why so many Pirates were pissed when VaTech cancelled furutre trips to Greenville this year..

If you went based it on pure number of games played

1. ECU 17 games (7-10)
2. Bethune-Cookman 16 games (11-5)
3. Memphis 14 games (13-1)
