Thanks! It's hard to take it all in. These kids are really playing well together. If they continue to they'll be hard to stop. They were undefeated in the month of March. I can only hope that April will be as kind!

Maravich was 40 years ahead of his time and had all of those points shooting 3's that only counted for 2.

He may be referring to NMSU, whose live action mascot is named Pistol Pete. Auburn just may be the first to make the Final Four by knocking off teams that have been there.
On second thought, George Mason did the same.

Auburn was on a roll. They beat Tennessee by 20 in the SEC title game and dominated UNC.
UK just didn't hit their free throws starting in the 2nd half. They were short which shows fatigue. Think they were 11/20 at the end of regulation. It was a physical game and even though Auburn was down 1 big man, they did a better job rotating their players.

Iwokeup was referring to NMSU in the first round who had 2
legit chances to beat Auburn with under 3 seconds to go but couldn’t get their free throws down or hit the open three. Auburn escaped with the 1 point win.
Auburn’s fabulous run almost got derailed before it started and neither Kansas or North Carolina played Auburn as close.

Arizona did enroute to their title in 1997.

Yup. Although Providence was in between Kansas and UNC/KY

When you reference Pistol Pete to a guy my age we don't think mascots, we think Maravich, especially if we are SEC. But C2 and you are right I'm sure. I was around before any school had these kids in a fur suit or big head as mascots. We had live animals or just a nickname. I'm still getting use to Aubie coming up my aisle at the baseball games and blocking my vision while he/she plays with the kiddies and Aubie has been around since the 80's, but that's cool since the kids love them.
New Mexico State played a great game and easily could have won. Auburn played 4 games in a row with the last on selection Sunday, had a travel day on Monday, a light practice on Tuesday, a walk through and shoot around on Wednesday and game close to noon our time on Thursday. We we're vulnerable and almost got nailed. Getting past that first weekend gave us rest and recovery time. It's been showing. Whether we can get by Virginia with no Okeke is the looming question now?

And if I remember correctly, that Arizona team was a #4 seed that had to beat 3 different #1 seeds to win the championship.

I thought his comment was kind of weird. LSU didn't get to the NCAA with Pistol Pete.

I've always thought Bruce Pearl was a bit of a tool but he's one helluva coach. Good for Auburn.

Nope, wasn't the field in the late 60's and early 70's 32 teams? But in those days there just weren't enough players on the floor to compliment Maravich. I think he averaged 44 pts a game while at L.S.U.. We packed the coliseum just to watch the behind the back and between the legs passes. His shooting skills were phenomenal. He was a one many show and what made the games so special at Auburn was that we had John Mengelt for 3 of the years they had Pete Maravich. Those two could put on a show when going head to head.

While that's true Quo they didn't play them back to back to reach the final four. They beat two of them in the final four.

And what's ironic is they had no business beating South Alabama and Charleston in that Tournament in the first two rounds.

I this was football season, CBS would be very pleased with Auburn beating those schools.
But since it's hoops season, they are Public Enemy Number One, LOL.
