Yes, since Louisville was still in the 2014 AAC, they count as a power that year.

Louisville's presence in the AAC in 2014 makes UConn's natty win count as a power conference win? Can't wait to see the logic behind THAT...

Actually the league still had the BCS autobid that year.

The AAC is a basketball power conference and a tweener football conference. All power conferences just aren’t the same.

There are no bowls in basketball. Therefore, there is no Bowl Coalition in basketball. Thus, the BCS has nothing to do with a basketball championship.

Probably he meant 2013-14 was the final year of the Big East contract with the BCS which was not going to kick the renamed AAC out of the cartel on its last season. For those purposes, the AAC was seen as an AQ league and UCF represented the “Big East” in the Fiesta Bowl vs Big XII champ Baylor. The AAC still had Rutgers and Louisville and ECU, Tulane and Tulsa were in their last year in C-USA while Navy was joining two years later. That same year, UConn won the NC with players who were recruited to play in the Big East. That’s why some people on this board refer to the 2013-14 AAC as a power conference.

Why do you list the WAC by Texas Western? They didn’t join the WAC until 1968 and were independent when they won in 66. As a UTEP fan, shouldn’t you know that?

Not sure if this has been brought up, but tonight's final will be the first to match two schools that have never been to the title game since Michigan State-Indiana State in 1979.

Brain fart. Thanks for correcting me. 04-cheers
Colorado State and UTEP under its new name joined the WAC together in 1968.

Understates the fact the Pac12/Big 12 is closer to FCS level than Alabama and Clemson level. And yes the same goes for pretty much everyone else.

They really just need to make a top 12 league or something.

AAC is the best non-power conference, but still not a power conference. Not even in basketball. Sorry.

Also someone needs to remind the Michigan / Michigan St fans in this state of the Big 10's drought.
