RE: Rank the open AAC Candidates from CUSA
I'm just really astonished at the UAB love. They've historically done nothing and had their program canned because of it. They're lucky to even have a team at this point and won a conference championship with a bunch of 25 year olds on the roster. Their sports haven't been good in quite some time and with how much they lost, they'll probably be average in football.
But please, continue to tell me how their off-campus stadium (that isn't even started yet) and university strapped down by the Alabama BOT is anywhere close to appealing. Tell me how their basketball program that hasn't done anything relevant in quite some time is appealing. Tell me how their administration which has shown such a disregard for athletics that it shut the program down has any type of appeal to the AAC.

Pre-shut down UAB and post-shutdown UAB.
If the American is looking at pre-shutdown UAB, obviously they're not a strong candidate.
But when you combine the passion that was reinvigorated to bring a program back, despite political turmoil, I think that showed very strong base to build on. That, as well as the city and market itself. Major renovations being done to the highway near Birmingham...
Also, remember the American Conference is infatuated with markets for whatever reason. So with all that being said, they offer a little bit of everything.

I think the one set of numbers I would like to see our actual eyeballs on games.
If there's any way to find ratings combined for games played by team, for example if it's shown that more eyeballs view Marshall games than team x and so forth. I think those are things that the American would want to see.

Huntington-Charleston media market is bigger than all 3 of theirs. Please don't try to add MTSU in with Nashville.
If you're including charleston why shouldnt they be allowed to include Nashville? Theyre closer to nashville than Marshall is to Charleston.

RE: Rank the open AAC Candidates from CUSA
You have to remember that the AAC didn't even really want ECU and, at that time, they were consistently pulling well over 40,000 for football and had a better football brand than Everyone left in CUSA except USM at the time. They only made it when Boise backed out.
Given that, and the fact that they took Tulane, tells me that market and academics are more important than fans, attendance, or quality of the teams. Given that, I would say that ODU would probably be at the top of the list if they were taking a CUSA school, but I seriously doubt they will. My guess is they will talk to BYU, Army, and Boise and if those three say no they will stick with 11 for now (unless ESPN says they have to take team "X" to not have their contract reduced).

Conveniently left out men's basketball attendance and % of athletic budget that is subsidized.
AAC is a legit basketball conference. They aren't going to bring in someone who averages 1,500/game in basketball. All the AAC teams are under 50% subsidized so I doubt they bring in teams who are 60%+ subsidized.

If it's market and academics they want, no better choice than Rice.
That seems like a very AAC move.

Marshall games are the first ones selected in the CUSA TV deal. That tells you all you need to know about these so called markets.

MT is in the Nashville-Murfeesboro-Franklin metropolitan area. We are definitely in the Nashville market. Its absurd to argue otherwise but somehow I suspect you will.

Current UAB and pre-shutdown UAB are two completely different things. We are in a much stronger position now with all the money that has been raised, new facilities on campus, new stadium on the way, top business executives in town on our side that weren't in the past, Bryant Jr off the BOT, etc. There's a lot more understanding now from non-UAB people around town that UAB's growth=Birmingham's growth.

Birmingham is the 40th largest TV market (decent size) with around 1.2M in the metro. But Birmingham is consistently the #1 market nationally for college football and that's aside from Bama and Auburn games. If you look at ESPN ratings for a random game like Penn St vs Illinois, Birmingham will be in the top 3 markets for ratings.
