1942: Boston College @ Holy Cross
https://www.nytimes.com/1992/11/22/sport...-fire.html

#1 Boston College (8-0) plays for a national title at Holy Cross (4-4-1) and schedules an aftergame party at Cocoanut Grove. Holy Cross stuns BC and BC officials cancel the aftergame party. Nearly 500 people die that night at Cocoanut Grove in a fire.

Horrible tragedy. Just going from memory of old stories that were told-- some exit doors had been welded shut, and in other areas fake curtains didn't actually have windows behind them. Some people were running for safety towards those two targets.

Well that one and the triangle shirt company fire rewrote the fire codes for their times. Both were horrific tragedies.
