The Turf War....
In my opinion this week's game between North Texas and SMU has become bigger than just being two local programs meeting on the field. The AAC is moving their headquarters to Dallas after this season, and C-USA's leadership will need to step up their game (we all know MacLeod can't do that), or risk losing what little local support the conference has developed over the years.

Because of this impending change, and C-USA's lack of competent leadership, I think it is important that North Texas does not just settle for winning our share of these annual games against SMU, but UNT needs to dominate this series for as long as it continues. The current arrangement runs through 2025 (based on what has happened on the field and the numbers in the stands, I believe the series will be extended). In my opinion, this "Turf War" is not just between North Texas and SMU, but will now represents a battle between C-USA and the AAC. C-USA is not in a position to challenge the AAC for the top G5 spot, but maybe North Texas can be a thorn in the side of their leadership for as long as they call DFW home.

So you guys need to do them what they’ve done to you for the last 100 years. A lot of ground to make up before throwing out the word dominate.

SMU does indeed suck. Tremendously. But for whatever reason, historically, we often seem to suck just a bit more against them. The tide is changing though. Their program has been in decline or stagnant for decades while UNT is growing slowly getting better.

I don’t know what planet I have been on not to have known that we have a home and home with Louisiana Tech. We have a good schedule coming up with you, UNT and Tcu.

Yeah they suck, kinda like Tulsa both programs Tech has dominated.

Seriously No reason at all North Texas should lose to SMU. Weak talent even by G5 standards.

Tech has dominated weak programs such as Tulsa and SMU over the years. North Texas needs to do the same.

I think you may think that this game is bigger than it really is. I understand the local interest but outside the Dallas/Fort Worth area no one really has this game on their radar.

We feel our game against UCF is huge down here, but not sure how people feel about it outside of South Florida. I actually think the UCF-FAU game is the biggest AAC-CUSA matchup this week.

None the less, good luck hope you win and represent the conference well.

Is it me or does the time of possession makes no sense with 24 seconds remaining in the 3rd quarter?

I agree SMU is an afterthought in DFW, they haven’t been relevant in decades. No one cares outside of UNT and SMU fans.

With that being said CUSA needs to win against these weaker G5 programs such as SMU and Tulsa

Not trying to put a damper on things. But, this is going to be a very tough game this weekend.

SMU has added a LOT of grad transfers and this is not the same team as last year. The biggest difference is of course the QB Buechele. That guy is a former Longhorn starter and looked pretty damn good last week (after the initial pick).

This weeks game is going to be a barn burner with 2 very good QB's and not so great defenses. It would not be surprising if this was the highest scoring FBS game this week.
