You think the SB would be willing to take the hit in FB performance by taking them?

Or a larger financial hit? 8 of the Sun Belt's 12 schools (including both of its basketball schools) all lost money in 2019/2020 according to the recent data provided by USA Today. Contrast to CUSA where only 2 of the 14 members lost any money in which one of those two was Marshall.

Per USA Today every SBC and CUSA school lost money because they had to have the school or students make up shortfalls and all but two CUSA needed students and the school to provide more than half operating capital.
Only in intercollegiate athletics is taxing students and diverting university funds considered making money.

It’s a useless task trying to understand A41’s sick obsessive hate for UL, ULM and the SBC. It’s just something we need to accept and yet point out Hud bs as many times as we come across it.

I don't hate UConn. I have a great deal of respect for what Geno Auriemma has done with the women's basketball program there over the last 20 years. I get annoyed when someone says a potentially dying conference should invite a member in the only sport they underperform in with no direct incentive to the schools left in that conference because playing that school's underperforming sports team is a privilege because of the school's other sports they'll never have the opportunity to play.

Also, I don't hate ULM like the socialist, FrankyP, says. They have that league's most marquee non-conference win at this point. Their suffering has been long, and I really hope they do well. I really hope they humble the Lafayette Cajuns the way they humbled Liberty.

When Texas State decided to make the move to FBS there was a student vote on raising the student fees to cover athletics. It was made very clear that by voting yes, they would be charged money to be used to make the move up and to maintain athletics at the FBS level. The students voted with around 60% say yes to the new fee. Would the students of today vote yes? I don't think it would be a problem if we were winning, however its been a very long time since we've had a winning season. Regardless, student-led efforts such as these make it not a huge deal for us.

We had a vote on raising property tax rates to fund a new library.
Voting to tax yourself is still a tax.
None of that goes to my point. The other poster said some schools were losing money. The fact is anyone needing a student fee or university transfer to make their budget is losing money on athletics

RE: Why doesn’t Southern Miss and Marshall join the Sun Belt?
Southern Miss had a chance.
They built a nice tradition back when they were one of the only non-SEC schools in SEC territory. As a result, they got a lot of great athletes who weren't quite SEC-level and didn't want to venture too far from home.
But then the 1990s saw UCF, USF, UAB, Western Kentucky, MTSU, Arkansas St, Louisiana-Monroe, Troy St, etc. join FBS, and recruiting became much more competitive.
After Bower left, the tradition began to fade and they just became a face in the crowd.

Calling it and posing a question are two vastly different definitions for what actually happened here. You asked a question and even included “I’m not trolling.”
Kudos to asking the question.
