I already knew LA Tech had the #1 ranked recruiting class in CUSA with 22 commits, but I'm surprised that so many of our CUSA schools have less than 10 commits. What's up with that?

I believe one reason FIU only has 13 public commits right now is that multiple spots will be saved for the transfer portal, similar to last season. FIU was very successful at landing quality production through the portal. Both Chris Whittaker (Kentucky transfer) and Alexy Jean-Baptiste (Arkansas transfer) gave substantial production at the DE spot and were the two starting pass rushers. FIU also landed Josh Turner at DB from Iowa who was the starting nickelback. Some other guys who were not cleared to play last year, but should be available this year, include former Arkansas RB Maleek Williams and former top Georgia WR Jeremiah Holloman, who will probably be the most dynamic playmaker in all of C-USA next year.

My point is, the landscape has changed now. The transfer portal can now make a huge impact on the roster too. It would be interesting to see recruiting rankings that accounted for both high school signees and players from the portal.

It's all about ebb-and-flows. If a school had a huge crop one year, next year they are going to be in the middle of the pack, or even the bottom.

FAU has only 9 recruits thus far, because of the huge crop last year. So we have no choice but go after quality. These 9 recruits still generate the highest average in the conference.
