I think that's why a common thought is the B12 taking them if they ever decide to expand - to get access to Florida recruits and take them away from the SEC/ACC. Strengthen themselves and weaken their competitors at once.

The Big 12 doesn't recruit a lot in Florida. WVU and ISU get some. Its pretty minimal elsewhere. All the ACC, SEC and Big 10 schools recruit Florida.

And if the B12 had UCF and USF...

It might change KU & KSU's recruiting and help in Florida for ISU and WVU. Don't really see it changing the recruiting of the Texas and Oklahoma schools.

John Mackovic at Texas tried to recruit Florida and it just didn't work, but he succeeded in California (now a lot of that could be wine and cheese John couldn't relate to beer and burgers Florida, but there was just an east of the Mississippi mentality). Charlie Strong got 3 highly rated recruits from Florida one year with his Florida ties. One didn't show up. One went home after a week. The 3rd just never panned out-he became a 2nd/3rd string WR (John Burt).

ND had made the decision a few years ago to recruit Georgia and the Carolinas more and recruit Florida less.

It was the Florida kids who caused ND the most trouble academically and off the field.

I don't see the "scheme" connection. You hire the best you can get.

If Weis is as good as he seems he'll be gone in a couple of years anyway.

Your fix is wrong. Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU and Oklahoma St. aren't going to start recruiting heavily in Florida. Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma are much more lucrative for them than far away and heavily recruited Florida.
