This. ESPN has built the Boise St brand. They are not going to let another network just take it so easily when they can just marry BSU to the AAC and get their property back.

A couple of thoughts that may lead one to believe that "something is brewing" with BSU, ESPN and the AAC.

This may be the reason that ESPN has not made any decisions about addressing the AAC media contract after UConn's departure.

Didn't realize that they've left the situation open.

That could leave us with what might be called "a pregnant pause."

Add in the Boise St tantrum with the MWC, perhaps the AAC and ESPN and BSU secretly trying to make sense of Boise St. joining as an all sports member and what that would mean in terms staying at the same $$$$ for the AAC or bumping us up a bit. Football is the main revenue driver. And Boise St outguns UCONN bigly in that department. Plus ESPN takes the best product from the MWC from CBS. Could be a case of the bride that didn't like the BE but came to her senses and sees the AAC as a legit suitor. And Pastor ESPN agrees.

RE: "Revised TV Deal" not abbot UConn Exit
Some people have suggested that the departure of Conn would have no affect on the contract with the AAC that the rest of the members would just split the UConn portion of the contract and move on at 11 FB, and 11 BB members as a conference.

While spatially true that UConns departure will have little affect on the field or court, it will have a severe affect on ESPN's anticipated income from ESPN+ subscriptions, for that reason I believe that ESPN would have just deducted UConns portion of the contract and moved on and put any contract issues to bed.

The fact that they haven't indicates that they may be working with the AAC to find a replacement arrangement for UConn and either leave the contact as is or renegotiate either UP or DOWN depending on who will ultimately replace UConn.

This is why the renegotiation process is less about UConn and more about what the AAC will lock like moving forward.

ESPN + subscriptions are geared toward Oly sports.
FB only helps one side, but not the other
I would treat contract as separate enititys

At least we'll be reasonably assured of a competing bid next time hopefully.
