That season, Kmart may have been one of the most dominating college players of the modern era. As much as Dick Vitale gets on everyone's nerves, I forgor how fun it is when he is gushing about your team. What could have been...

When Dickie V retired college basketball lost one of its biggest cheerleaders and characters.

I believe the cleaned up quote from Huggs in the huddle during that DePaul game was "no one shoots that effing ball unless Kenyon has touched it." And then KMart and the boys went to work. Best part of rewatching that last 3:46 minutes is the final few seconds when DeMarr hesitates before shooting in the game winner...post-game he said he hesitated to shoot becuare he wasn't sure if Kenyon had touched the ball.

Kenyon was a man among boys. Just dominating.
What could've been...

Damn.....What a team, in addition to Kenyon. It was cool to see a younger Huggs. Man, that was about a thousand 12 packs ago.

I've watched that "comeback" video numerous times and any Bearcat fan who hasn't has truly missed an amazing display by the National Player of the Year in absolutely taking over a game and willing his team to victory.

I'm certainly not comparing this to the importance of that game and that season, but what Scott and Williams did Tuesday night was about as energizing for me in 2020 as any Bearcat player performance this season. Scott's consistency this senior year has been something to behold; if Williams averages half that many points the rest of his career we have a lot to look forward this year and next.

That game is forever etched in my memory and what a memory it was! Funny, has DePuke ever been that good since then? It's like that game began their program killing descent.

I"ll always remember Dick soiling himself on air describing KMart's play [something to the effect of] "Super, scintillating, and superior and marvelous, magnificent, and magical."

Actually, Dickie V was in Dayton calling the Dayton-Duquesne game recently. He still does games, just not as many and not the high profile games.

Dickie V posted something on twitter where he was talking to random Dayton fan in a restaurant the Friday of that game. I immediately recognized the person as a magistrate a regularly practice in front of.

Found it. Go to the 7:20 mark and Richard Vee just soils himself over Kenyon. I don't believe I've ever heard the superlatives roll off a tongue like that. Pardon the poor video quality...

I watched that game with my then 4 year old and I believe I scarred him permanently with the jumping and swearing and screaming.

For those that are too young to remember, that DePaul team was loaded with talent: Quintin Richardson, Bobby Simmons, Paul McPherson, Steven Hunter... they were all Top 50 players coming out of HS and they all eventually went to the NBA.

Lance Williams was a big time recruit for them too. They had a lot of talent.

Funny seeing Larry Harrison as an assistant for DePaul. Forgot about that one.

Other than his last make, Kenyon's offensive "moves" were all just turnaround and shoot from wherever he got the ball. He was not going to miss. Amazing.

Just like William Avery for Duke the year before in the Great Alaskan Shootout (and Jarron this year against UCF), Q Richardson makes the would-be winner just after the buzzer. Wild.
