At North Texas, baseball isn't any kind of sport. They don't have a diamond, they don't have any dugouts, they don't have any bats, they don't have any gloves, and sadly enough - they don't have any balls Joe.

Maybe you can make the trip over to Houston soon and catch a game with former ODU star (Justin Verlander) pitching for the Astros. 07-coffee3

How convenient of you to leave out the rest of my response. I'll add it back in so you can enjoy all of my post....

There are only 2 big sports in college athletics... football & basketball. And, right now UNT is better than ODU at both. Once you add in the facts that ODU recently cut one of their sports, and that North Texas sponsors 5 more C-USA sports than ODU, everyone can see how ridiculous it is that you continue to push the topic of sponsoring sports. 03-nutkick

LOL ... So you're telling everybody that North Texas sponsors 5 more sports than ODU does, yet NONE of the sports they sponsor is one of the biggest sports each year in the conference (Baseball)? Just because YOU don't follow any sports other than football and basketball doesn't mean that the rest of the country feels the same. The College World Series is a big event for the masses of people that like and follow College Baseball. Try telling a Rice, USM, FAU, LA Tech, etc. fan that College Baseball isn't worth anything. The CUSA Baseball Tournament held in Biloxi is among if not the best tournament the conference holds each year. NO ONE is saying that baseball is bigger than football or basketball in the conference, but to act like it is just meaningless or insignificant in the conference is beyond the pale - and that is how you are treating it. When I think of schools like East Carolina, Coastal Carolina, USM, FAU, or Rice, I don't immediately think of their football or basketball teams when I think of their sports programs. I like lots of other people that follow many different sports first think of their strong baseball teams.

What is ridiculous is your initial comment, "WE can kick out the 2 worst football programs from the new additions". That "WE" would be YOU and who else Joe? 03-nutkick 01-wingedeagle

Now you are just trying to put words in my mouth. I never wrote that baseball was meaningless. I guess this is what you must resort to, when you can't win the argument. Very weak.

I'm sure every member you called out would agree that football drives the bus in C-USA. They would probably also agree that basketball is also among the major sports. As much as you want to place baseball among the "major" sports in C-USA, you are clearly wrong. If baseball were an actual major sport in C-USA, the conference would mandate that all programs field a team, but they don't. That is as logical as it gets. You have no argument, when the conference clearly doesn't place the same priority on baseball, that it only affords to football and basketball.

You are completely our of touch. C-USA is not going to agree to splitting our conference. And however unlikely it is that we (our respective leadership) choose to remove the two weakest new additions may be, it is still more likely than splitting C-USA along divisional lines. You can continue to live in your delusion if you choose. You can even continue to lose these arguments day after day. But, it won't change the fact that ODU will remain with the current line-up in C-USA, unless they can get an invitation to the Sun Belt, go independent, or get kicked out.

Joe, I feel like I am trying to hold a reasonable and logical discussion with a 5 year old child. You keep throwing out there that I somehow am advocating or pushing the thought of "splitting C-USA along divisional lines". I never stated that, recommended that, or pushed that. How can I be out of touch about something that I have never stated???? Yet you accuse others of being delusional. You just made stuff up to argue against it. I guess I should not be surprised about your confusion on this. After all, you use the word "we" to mean a group of people that doesn't include yourself.

I imagine you feel slighted that N. Texas doesn't play baseball and it is likely the rational behind why you are diminishing the strong baseball being played historically in C-USA. That's a shame too. There are a lot of talented high school baseball players in Texas and N. Texas could probably get a few of them to stay in state and play for them. And for the record Joe, I'm not "clearly wrong" in thinking that Baseball is among the "major" sports played in C-USA. The fact that N. Texas doesn't participate doesn't change that. Again, before you go off on another one of your wild incorrect tangents, NOBODY is saying that baseball is the MOST MAJOR sport among the list of major sports. It is however very relevant in C-USA (and nationally as well) whether you understand that or not.

Lastly, what is it with you and your zeal to kick some schools out of the conference? Do the rest of us fans get votes on that as well - and who the schools are that we get to kick out, or is your vote the only one that counts? For the sake of ending this discussion and making you feel good about it Joe ... you win the argument (wink, wink). 07-coffee3

If I falsely accused you of supporting the splitting of C-USA, than I apologize. I run across ODU fans pushing that agenda. If you are for keeping C-USA together than we at least agree on that issue. My proposal of kicking out the weakest new additions was just that... another option. I have no desire to see any program removed from C-USA, but for the sake of stability, I'd certainly hope the option is on the table. Some would support it and some would not. I think most just want stability for their program, and that option might provide it for the remaining C-USA programs. Baseball is a great sport, but since C-USA doesn't mandate members sponsor it, it would certainly would not factor into selecting which programs would get the boot. If baseball was truly a major sport, North Texas would already have it. One day UNT will field a baseball team, but not until a time of our choosing. I am glad we are ending this discussion, because it is pointless to continue. As long as it does not negatively impact C-USA, I wish ODU the best going forward.
