Where's the deceptive naming in that? Francis Xavier was a Basque, he definitely would pronounce his name with a "Z" sound.

It's the schools who spell it the same as Francis Xavier but pronounce it "Egg-save-ier" or "Ecks-save-ier", those are the ones with deceptive names.

Actually, in Basque X is pronounced "sh".
And if there's a Xabierkoa University somewhere around the US, I should hope it is pronounced with an sh.

We are named after our baptist temple (even though we're a public school), which is now a performing arts center

I feel like it's pretty far down there, Southern Mississippi seems like the most apt descriptor for that area.
