I'm not in tune with LIU athletics or their funding. Where is this coming from? On paper, it's not a particularly highly-ranked private university (e.g. over 60 spots behind St. John's in the latest US News rankings) that's still charging nearly $40,000 per year in tuition. It has good locations with its main campuses in Brooklyn and suburban Long Island, but that alone makes it curious how they're able to add sports right now.
