1) Flexibility. CUSA schools proved in 2020 we are willing to move dates and times to leverage and gain TV time.
2) Viewership. I posted many threads about our viewership amongst the G5 conferences. We are right there or better than most.
3) History. Do not discredit the heritage Marshall has on the landscape. Pre- CUSA 3.0, we were an ESPN darling.
1. Wrong CUSA was not willing to play week day games as a contract
2. meaningless unless you want to run those numbers over 3 to 5 non covid years
3. No one wanted to pay for Marshall football. No one wanted to pay for S. Miss football. No one wanted to pay for Rice football. Not one wanted to pay for UAB football. No one wanted to pay foy UTEP football. Finally no one wanted to pay any more for the football of those schools added to CUSA....
If they did the WOULD HAVE
Marshall moved games and scheduled games at the last second in 2020.
I don't remember exactly which ones off hand, but I know we had created a few last minute deals with some teams to gain network coverage.
Also, I did run those numbers all the way back to 2014.
When are you going to finally realize LAST SEASON WAS A FREAK YEAR? You can repeat that all you want but when Judy was making a deal for media rights...CUSA did not want mid week games. Not Judy but the Presidents and ADs of CUSA
Link to the average number of views going back to 2014?
As for your comment Marshall was espn darlings before CUSA 3.0. I checked and Marshall played 7 non bowl games on espn or espn2 from 2012 through 2007 and 3 of those were against W. Virginia.
I'm referring to our MAC days.
Here is 2014.
https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/college...rchived/3/
CUSA teams played a G5 team 19 times (some conference games.) We averaged roughly 600,000 viewers when playing G5.
I don't like to count P5 games.
2014 other than bowl or championship game and FS1 is about like espn2
W. Kentucky/Marshall 463k and this is a game that other schools had a interest in and social media was off the charts because of the first half offense. I remember getting a call while I was at the game that it was trending.
