1) Flexibility. CUSA schools proved in 2020 we are willing to move dates and times to leverage and gain TV time.

2) Viewership. I posted many threads about our viewership amongst the G5 conferences. We are right there or better than most.

3) History. Do not discredit the heritage Marshall has on the landscape. Pre- CUSA 3.0, we were an ESPN darling.

1. Wrong CUSA was not willing to play week day games as a contract
2. meaningless unless you want to run those numbers over 3 to 5 non covid years
3. No one wanted to pay for Marshall football. No one wanted to pay for S. Miss football. No one wanted to pay for Rice football. Not one wanted to pay for UAB football. No one wanted to pay foy UTEP football. Finally no one wanted to pay any more for the football of those schools added to CUSA....

If they did the WOULD HAVE

Marshall moved games and scheduled games at the last second in 2020.

I don't remember exactly which ones off hand, but I know we had created a few last minute deals with some teams to gain network coverage.

Also, I did run those numbers all the way back to 2014.

When are you going to finally realize LAST SEASON WAS A FREAK YEAR? You can repeat that all you want but when Judy was making a deal for media rights...CUSA did not want mid week games. Not Judy but the Presidents and ADs of CUSA

Link to the average number of views going back to 2014?

As for your comment Marshall was espn darlings before CUSA 3.0. I checked and Marshall played 7 non bowl games on espn or espn2 from 2012 through 2007 and 3 of those were against W. Virginia.

I'm referring to our MAC days.

Here is 2014.

https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/college...rchived/3/

CUSA teams played a G5 team 19 times (some conference games.) We averaged roughly 600,000 viewers when playing G5.

I don't like to count P5 games.

2014 other than bowl or championship game and FS1 is about like espn2

W. Kentucky/Marshall 463k and this is a game that other schools had a interest in and social media was off the charts because of the first half offense. I remember getting a call while I was at the game that it was trending.

That is the kind of data that needed to be puffed up, and I'm not sure it did....that's what I mean WKUYG.

CUSA teams just don't get a lot of opportunities on ESPN, which is what really stands out to me looking through these lists.

I know you keep saying 2020 doesn't count, but it's really our only year we had a crack at major networks.

When given that chance we did admirably.

That was the lowest rated game of the week played on a actual network. ESPN News is a fill in channel not carried by very many outlets. FS1 is in the same viewing as espn2.

If you are trying to spin the lowest rated game of the week as a positive. You need to be a politician

games not carrying at least a 1.0 rating

I'm finished with this...lot better things I can do on a Friday afternoon and didnt mean to spend this much time on it. But I owned my first business at the age of 18 and never worked for anyone since then. With that I know if there's value in something or someone that I can turn a profit on....

and its worth the chance after viewing pros and cons. I will pay for it. The same holds true for CUSA Sports...if espn and fox needed the content and could make money on it. They would have bought it.

If CUSA had not backed out of the deal with espn and went with Fox...the conference would have the same deals as the MAC and SBC. Most likely with a little higher value but not much.

If you see, FS1 is probably an ESPNU/ESPN News comp. We just havent had a lot of real ESPN/ESPN 2 opportunity outside of bowls and 2020.

However, now we have some data points.

Homer Simpson DOH! I meant to say WKU vs Marshall. For some reason FAU slipped out.

I think you know what I mean now.

RE: Why hasn't Judy McLeod been fired?
The only non bowl games CUSA have appeared on ESPN and ESPN2 in 2014. I don't have the time right now to go into every year, but you get the idea.

It's very difficult to get a comp going because we just do not get many opportunities....

2014:
956K Rice/Texas A&M ESPN2
1.78M Southern Miss/Alabama ESPN2
725K La. Tech/Marshall ESPN2

Without going into each year, I would guess we've had maybe 15 on ESPN and ESPN2. However, when we have had those chances, we generally perform on the MAC, Sun Belt, and Mountain West level.

We do not deserve to be lowballed anymore.

488K USM/WKU ESPN2

That was the only non-bowl game CUSA had in 2015. So you see the trend, the only way we would get on ESPN networks is by a miracle, a bowl game, or Covid.

That needs to change, and that should be simple to understand.

I agree, but I think what Guns is saying is that it isn’t going to change because some new face waves a magic wand and paints CUSA football as something other than what it is… at least not until we provide results on the field.
