Notre Dame-Navy in Annapolis for 1st time
https://navysports.com/news/2020/6/2/202...eland.aspx

Quote:Following extensive consultation with the Irish government, medical authorities and the leadership teams at Navy and Notre Dame, the Aer Lingus Classic football game scheduled for August 29 will not be played at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.

It is the intention of both Navy and Notre Dame to open the 2020 college football season with the 94th consecutive playing of the longest continuous intersectional rivalry in the country at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md. The game will ideally be played Labor Day weekend (Saturday or Sunday) and televised nationally by ESPN or ABC.

That's awesome. Tickets will be impossible to get - if the game can be played at all.

One of the best annual rivalries in sports. Would be an amazing, uniting, story for our country if this game is played on 8/29.

IMO, it would be pointless to play this game there in an empty stadium.

RE: Notre Dame-Navy in Annapolis for 1st time
USNA class of 2020 was rolled back through the Academy in five smaller groups to move out of Bancroft Hall, and to conduct five ceremonies, one of which got the Blue Angels flyover. Official commissioning date was Friday 22 May.
Plans are in place to induct the class of 2024 at the end of this month - smaller groups in-processing over several days, no family or spectators, and 14-day isolation before Plebe Summer training really begins.

Even with everything else up in the air, barring disaster, there will be over 25% of the Brigade on the Yard by Labor Day.

I'll provide updates on ticketing. Being a donor and season ticket holder got me my Dublin tickets. I hope that having that marker down gets me to the head of the line, especially if NMCMS will be at reduced capacity.

Hoping they'll allow full capacity so merely buying a season ticket might gain access to this game. Notre Dame in Annapolis might never happen again, so this is a bucket list item.

But if it's reduced capacity, only donors will have a shot at this one.

There are Blue-N*-Gold donors who are NOT season ticket holders - that donation is there to hold down priority for Army Navy. And I suppose those folks were on the Dublin rolls.

I'd rather it be played in Dublin, the 2012 game there was a great success.

As a dual citizen and an ND fan, I was looking forward to that game in that venue.

Covid says no. So it goes.

Yes, it will be pretty cool for the game to be at Annapolis.

N-MC Stadium is a great place to watch a college football game. As cool as Dublin is, I would want to see this game in Annapolis at least once.

Cadets is the nickname for teams from the Navel Academy, not the Naval Academy.

I'd spam some garbage emojis too, but Panite posts enough for the whole board.

The stadium seats 34,000. When was the last time ND played a regular season game at this sized stadium?

Navy-Marine Corps and Groves Stadium are similar.

Excuse me - your right - just shot from the hip with a quick reply on that one between honey do projects that day. I should have known better since I have toured the Navel Academy three times and have been to a football game there too. 03-old 07-coffee3 04-cheers
