Oh man, I'm pumped after watching that video. I loved seeing Charlton run over a catcher. Proposed nickname for the Reds bullpen this year, "The Cure" (the cure to the reds futility over the last 30 years).

That was actually Norm Charlton, not Rob Dibble. I know it well because it's perhaps the most memorable play I've ever seen in baseball.

My bad, thanks for clarifying. I had actually never seen that play before, pretty awesome.
We don't have a shut down bullpen like the Nasty Boys of '90. That was truly one of a kind. Maybe once in an era across all of baseball. To have not just one but two lefties that could throw heat along with Dibbs' giant leg kick before the explosion of the ball was on you was not fair to hitters. All three had knee buckling off speed pitches to compliment the heaters. That said, I believe the '20 starting rotation can be better than the staff of '90. Is it opening day yet?

NL Central
Our pick: Reds (14)
Who else got votes? Brewers (7), Cubs (6), Cardinals (5)
Why did you pick the Reds?
The NL Central appears to be the most wide-open division. When in doubt, default to starting pitching, and the Reds should be the class of the division with Luis Castillo, Sonny Gray, Trevor Bauer, Wade Miley and Anthony DeSclafani. Add in new power sources Mike Moustakas and Nicholas Castellanos, and the Reds' lineup should be improved as well. -- Dave Schoenfield

I also heard on 1530 the Reds are supposed to have both the "easiest" schedule and the least travel this year of any team in MLB. Let's hope they make hay while the sun shines in this short season.
I posted this on Reddit and I'll post here too: for those who like to bet.. Bovada has Luis Castillo 6th in betting odds to win the NL Cy Young at +1000. DeGrom (+350) is the leader followed by Scherzer, Buehler, Flaherty, and Darvish. Castillo and Bauer (+1300) are favored over notables Starsburg (+1400) and Kershaw (+1500).
Sonny Gray (+4000) could be a value pick. There are 20 pitchers selected for betting odds and I believe the Reds are the only team with 3.
Tons of good prop bets for batting average etc. as well.

Sonny Gray is YUUUGE value pick at those odds. There a reason the Reds picked him to start Opening Day.
I was waiting for some news like this. Yeah, we've got a lot of pitching, but this is still a bit disconcerting especially since I think Disco is probably the most overlooked/under-appreciated guy on the team. After all the injuries in recent seasons, he was coming on strong at the end of last year.

Agree on D. I hate to put it this way but if one of our starters was going to go down to an injury...hopefully, he won't miss much time and can add to our starting depth. If not, we've got guys who can step up and fill the role at the back end of the rotation. Imagine, we still have Miley...
Sucks to lose Disco, even for a short amount of time. Agree completely with you guys that he's very overshadowed in this rotation. It's great to have the depth though. I'm a big Mahle fan. He has struggled in giving up the long ball (especially against LH pitching), but otherwise his peripherals look really good. I still expect him to be a fixture in the rotation in the coming years.

Yep on Mahle. He definitely can help the rotation for some spots and I don't believe D will be out long anyway. Hey, it could be worse - Kershaw got the scratch from last night's opener and is on the 10 day IL.
