14 shot, 2 dead in one place in Atlanta today
Street party for 4th of July. The two critically injured later died.

Nonstop coverage of Brooks shooting (the one who shot a Taser at the police officer).

Not much on this. Nothing anymore on the drive by shooting at Edgewood where 7 were shot and 2 killed not far from some popular shopping areas. Happened the day after Brooks.

"Atlanta Police said a large group of people were gathered at a party and watching fireworks on the 200 block of Auburn Avenue in Atlanta when a vehicle hit a pedestrian in the area. At that point a fight broke out between a number of people at the scene.

Police said the fight got worse and eventually shots were fired by multiple people involved in the melee. APD said a total of 14 people were shot and all were taken to area hospitals by private vehicles...."

"It was the so-called “Blue Flu.” Atlanta police called out of work in staggering numbers in an apparent protest against the legal response to Rolfe’s June 12 interaction with Brooks. More than 61 percent of Atlanta beat cops missed work on June 17, the day Howard brought charges against Rolfe, and more than 65 percent were absent on June 18. By June 19, the demonstration started to taper off, with about 51 percent calling out then and about 33 percent gone on June 20, according to APD roll call documents from the department’s six police zones.

Many officers excused their absence at roll call as holiday or vacation time; others claimed sickness or personal issues, among other reasons.
