The way I understood was whomever won the popular vote, several states would cast electorals that way... Ignoring who won their state. They would not enact this until they had 270 electorals together.

Good. This was something that the court did need to settle once and for all and I'm glad they did. If your state votes for a candidate your electoral vote should go for that candidate period.

From what I read, there was nothing in the constitution preventing states from determining how their electors cast their votes. So, if I'm understanding that correctly, there was a reason why they ruled on this case.

The Constitution also doesn’t specifically say that you have a fundamental right to have an abortion.

Well they still don't have to if the state doesn't have a law. But that is the state's choice.

Electors have 1 job and their votes belong to the states. This ruling makes sense.
