Spring Football?
Question for the Board -

How does the possibility of playing a spring football season conform to the stated desire of college administrators to put the welfare of the students first?

Assuming conditions in the spring would make playing a season possible (a big "if" at this point, IMHO), I would assume they would play a minimum of 9-10 games - which, in all likelihood, would extend the season to late April - possibly early May.

Is it reasonable to expect these athletes to be able to turn it around for summer camp, a scant three months later, to begin prep for a grueling, full 2021 fall season? What will be the impact on the athletes? Injuries? Lack of proper rest and recovery?

Add to this the likelihood that many of the best players - upperclassman with high draft expectations - are not gonna want to play a season (and risk injury or getting worn down) just a month or so ahead of the NFL OTA's.

If a conference is going to cancel the 2020 fall season, does it make more sense to just pick it back up next summer?

RE: Spring Football?
Im on record as saying there wont a Spring Season. Its just verbal salve for wounded fans. Some have called out the fact that the schools didnt spend hardly any time building a Spring back-up plan. The reason is they largely concluded Spring ball wasnt really viable. Too many games in a single and year---too much wear an tear on the kids---and the BIG kicker---anyone with a serious injury will effectively be lost for TWO seasons (the rest of the spring and they likely wont be back in time for fall either). Conference leaders know spring football is a bad idea.

What you might get is a supersized spring training camp. Basically, a 3 or 4 week camp with maybe 1-3 actual exhibition games. That minimizes wear and tear and lower the chance of injuries that might affect the fall season. It may be nothing more than a regular spring season that concludes with an actual game vs an actual conference opponent rather than an intra-squad scrimmage....or there may be no spring season at all. What your NOT going to get is a full 10-12 game season played in the spring.

RE: Spring Football?
The idea of playing two seasons of college football in 9 to 10 months is ridiculous.

No Junior planning to go early to the NFL is going to play in the Spring. Neither will Seniors that expect to be drafted. Spring football won’t see talented upperclassmen on the field.

There is a possibility that sophomores won’t play next fall because they already played in the spring and they can spend the fall and winter preparing for the draft their Junior year.

Spring football creates more problems then it solves.
