I agree to some point--- but I also believe the old adage-- NEVER let up in the first half. I have seen this come back to bite you if not followed.

This will never happen. Even during our elite bonkers 2014 team. Doc Holliday always throttles down, he's a firm believer on not running up the score.

We could be winning 24-0 after the first quarter, and we will put in our third stringers to throttle down.

Marshall fans have seen this under Doc Holiday. He is old school, and doesn't like showing up his coaching peers. You have to respect the man for this belief.

Marshall has kneeled on the 10 yard line or less more times than I know since 2010 from any other coach since Ive followed Marshall, I was born in Dec 1971 and the 1st coach I can remember was Frank Elwood (1975-78).

It really doesn't bother me and I understand Holliday's thinking. He doesn't want to show up another coach just because he can.

This will be Grant Wells debut as starting QB. My guess is that Marshall will score 35-42/45 points and give up 14-23 points. If Wells has as an accurate deep ball as said they could end up with 49 points. But I would expect most of the scoring done in the 1st half and maybe 10-14 points in the 2nd.

Agree with you on the Doc points.

As far as the game, I have literally no idea what to expect next Saturday. I could see a struggling Marshall team with a freshman quarterback put up 24 points. I would love to envision a world where we're able to put up 49 points.

We should win, hopefully we look good on ESPN.

I expect the 35-42 range. EKU in 2018 was Green's second game as a starter as Miami OH was his 1st and that game ended at 32-16. There were also 9 TOs in that game (EKU 5 Marshall 4), I don't expect that in this game. EKU had the time of possession holding the ball 32:11 and still only had 188 yards total. Marshall had 369 total yards but 3 of our 4 TOs was inside the 20 yard line. You hold on to just 2 of those and the score looks totally different.

From what Ive seen on film and what Ive seen from practice reports on Grant Wells, if I had to compare him to anyone in the last 10 years Id have to go with Ohio's Tyler Tettleton. If Wells can play like Tettleton then we would be in good hands.

The stage is set, Marshall. The first college football game of the day televised on ESPN. We'll all be watching, good luck to you.

Thanks guys. With all of the crap that's been going on this year feels good to have some football to watch on ESPN!

Hopefully, we do the conference proud.
