Hell yeah, I’m going to keep beating this horse cause it ain’t dead yet...and we just know Judy’s not going to realize there’s even an issue until the last games of the season...

La Tech loses 1 Conf game to UAB. UAB loses 1 Conf game to WKU:

Final CUSA West standings:
La Tech: 7-1 (with loss to UAB; has 8 Conf games)
UAB: 6-1 (with only loss to WKU; only has 7 Conf games after ODU bailed)

Everyone else in West has at least 2 losses. Who goes to Champ Game as West rep?

RE: Riddle me this:
I think you may be asking the wrong people, depending on what you're looking for.

If you want a spirited debate and lots of complaining about the conference administration, I think you can find (more of) that here.

If you want a definitive answer. . . it's possible that someone will find a tweet or parse the tie-breaker language or whatever for you, but you're probably barking up the wrong tree. Are there any public email addresses for CUSA officials? Did you try tweeting @ the official conference account? I am not sure you'll get an answer through either of those channels either, but if you did it'd be something real, not just message board speculation.

On that note, the answer is clearly the school with the most CUSA football games played over the past 5 years. :)

RE: Riddle me this:
Based on tie-breakers in the past....the team with the highest winning % gets in. In this case it would be Tech.

7-1 Tech's winning % = .875
6-1 UAB's winning % = .857

This would be no different if say a conference game got cancelled during the middle of the season because of a hurricane or something...and the game couldn't be made up. They would go with highest winning %...because in their minds, having a higher winning % in conference games should carry more weight than a head to head.

Yes, actually, I did both tweet the official acct and email the office. That FUBAR situation in deciding the West Champ just 2 years ago (I think...don’t think it was last season) showed the Conf was completely blindsided when their own tiebreaker rules were broken. Forgive me for not trusting them to even know there’s an issue brewing.

That is absolutely a valid argument...but so is the fact that UAB had no control over one of their opponents canceling their season.

True. But I think it's still more fair to go w/ the team that not only has a higher winning % but also had more opportunities to lose a conference game (and didn't). That's the rub.

Agree with you on the higher winning percentage. Another thing to keep in mind is that 4 of UAB's 7 conference games are home games, whereas LA Tech plays an even 4 at home and 4 away. So even though LA Tech would have one more game, it's a road game. And yeah, I get that all road games aren't created equal, because it depends on whom you're facing. Still worth mentioning though, and a valid question by blazr to start this discussion.

I send uab because of the head to head win over la tech. Don’t make this complicated

Since head to head is the first tie breaker

You would go by losses and with both teams having 1 loss UAB would be in the championship because of their win over Tech.

Do you think the various responses from our esteemed co-message boarders have resolved your concerns?

Again, having tweeted at and emailed the actual responsible parties, I think they're your best bet for a real answer.

But it's fun to talk about, too. My whole thing was that bringing it up here multiple times isn't going to get you closer to a resolution. I'm not discouraging you from doing so (yet).

YG is correct.

Tiebreaker #1 is highest winning percentage within conference play. #2 is head to head.

That would make YG wrong, because LaTech would have a higher winning percentage. If so, sucks for UAB, since ODU was an almost certain W for them.

This is what they should do, but that's why it's unlikely. How about if USM beats you both, making this moot?
