RE: Start of football practices delayed until late Sept (Rice)
The really dumb part is that the longer they delay just puts them further into cold and flu season. People are naturally going to begin getting sick (like every year) the longer they delay, so it is better to get started now. Unless of course, you never had any intentions of playing in the first place. So Rice is either being ignorant, being less than honorable with their true intentions, or incapable of MAKING A DECISION.

In my experience the latter, in bold).

This whole season has been an exercise in backing up slowly. First LSU canceled on us. Then we canceled Army and UH, moving the start back to 9-26. Then Lamar canceled on us.

Now this.

I think there is a lot of fear of legal liability.

One side effect has been a lessening of interest on the part of this Rice supporter of 58 years.

I think Army may be my new team.

That makes no sense, unless you are just after the room and board income from the students.

At least ODU MADE A DECISION and stuck to it. To sit around, say you're in, then quit is totally unacceptable Rice.

For what it’s worth, Rice students are being tested once per week.

Just go ahead and cancel your season. Rice is going to ass everything up twice as bad as ODU due to the crap timing.

Rice = FCS.

Yes, seriously. The Owls should just make it official.

Is Houston delaying their games too?

If not, than Rice need to man up and take the field when their scheduled.

This really pisses me off. Not only does it screw Marshall, it screws their division on last minute notice. Unforgivable.

And I think you are correct. Plenty of signs this was coming - no attempt to add opponents, let Army fill its schedule without a Rice game, no announcements on stadium policy. I will be surprised if we play.

Our invitation to the PAC should be in the mail.

Bingo. President David Leebron can’t go against his liberal buddies on the East Coast.

As an ODU fan and a non-trumpster, I have to say that this thread is highly entertaining. :popcornmunch:

Well, better to do what ODU did (cancel before the season) instead of just bailing at the last minute. CUSA could have tried to reschedule the conference slate once ODU announced we weren't playing, but that really cannot happen now.

Time to move the CUSA Championship game to December 12th or 19th. This would give every team an opportunity to play a makeup game on December 5th.

Seems to me two extremes going on right now with college football. Some teams did zero live tackling, mostly zoom work and danced around all offseason. Some teams actually worked and went as normal as could be. Those are the teams drilling teams last week. All or nothing so far with 2020 college football. Expecting to see more of the same this week....

It's puzzling to me because if you're truly bubbled, tested coming into the bubble and are testing two or three times a week in the bubble and players and staff are respecting the bubble, you should be good for full contact, right?

Isn't that the truth. The way Navy looked last night, I believe I'd prefer to rely on BYU for our country's protection instead of Navy. Geeez! 03-lmfao

Athletics doesn't matter to Rice. It's a damn sideshow that it would rather not deal with. If Rice had it's way, it would kill football.

To make matters even worse, Rice sponsored and encouraged a major BLM rally on campus on Friday that was led by football players. Just sick.
