Rivalry Week . .. seems kinda quiet over here . . .

To date, y’all have had our number, but Withers is gone, and Spavital looks like he can do himself some Coachin’ . . .

Think that this is the year we start to turn this thing around. This one would have been a sellout, shame that won’t happen because of the virus.
Should be a good contest. Lookin’ forward to Saturday.

The only super consistent poster from UTSA on here is Volkmar. A few others show up from time to time, but Volk does most of the representing around these parts.

When did Hate Week become a thing with Texas State and UTSA? You two have only played 3 times in 8 seasons.

That Texas State was actually North Texas. It was filmed at UNT. Old Fouts field was the location. They even used our Battle Flag as a prop in the movie. My how things have changed.

Apparently, the sTu shirts clearly poking fun at the made up Texas State in the 1991 classic Necessary Roughness are an actual rip off on another real life Texas school...

Texas Southern University...

Which actually uses the sTu emblem in it's brand.

It's a ton of fun connections. A movie about SMU, using Texas State (who was Southwest Texas State at the time) as a name, a logo from Texas Southern, and filming it at North Texas' campus. It's great.

I knew there was bad blood between UNT and UTSA, being a long time lurker here before dipping my toes in on commenting..

But I loved reading that anyway once again Joe!

We have our own hate filled rivalries brewing out East here with WKU and Charlotte starting to percolate.

It was such a low-key, great underrated show. A lot of amazing actors.

My favorite character was the car dealer booster, I loved his enthusiasm for his teams.

And I haven't commented in this thread yet because I honestly have no issue with Texas State. There's no love lost between our schools because we were conference mates for over 20 years before UTSA got football, and are a short drive away from each other, but I've just never been one of those fans who has a dislike for other schools the way some do. I don't dislike North Texas, LA Tech, UTEP, or anyone else we're supposed to have somewhat of a rivalry with either.

I like to meet fans from other schools when I go on road trips to watch UTSA play, and have generally had only positive experiences everywhere I've gone. The only places I've ever really been heckled were at New Mexico State, and against Houston at the christening of their new stadium. At NMSU, the heckling was after the game because they beat us in the bowl game which they hosted at their own stadium, and the Houston heckling was before the game, as there weren't many fans of theirs left when the final whistle blew in that one.
