Not this La Tech fan...
Fine, forfeit the game to Baylor. Whoop-de-effing do! What does that accomplish?
This was always going to be an issue with teams trying to plow through a pandemic and play football games. 110 kids in close confinement and as soon as 1 gets it, several others do as well. Having COVID wipe out an entire position group has a very strong chance of happening.
This will likely get worse. Basetball can be managed a heck of a lot easier than football. I don't know how teams are going to play an semblance of a normal season and we will probably have more and more kids opt out.
BS. 40% of a football team got 'sick' in a matter of a couple of days? Not one has any symptoms at all. Remember when the virus was said to only be able to live in temperatures up to 80F? It hasn't been below 80F in Louisiana for months.
IF this nonsense test result was real, then the university, every business, EVERYBODY in the nation needs to be put on lockdown and tested 3 times per week. The day and night rallies, protests, riots need to be halted by marshall order immediately! Don't even think about starting basketball season which IS in the peak of cold & flu season.

The point remains. If this is sooooo contagious and deadly (with zero symptoms) then people need to be stopped from going to work, going to rallies, protests, riots,.. under marshall order. That is much more of a national concern than this!

Well, first off the 80 degree thing is a myth that you likely picked up from an unreputable source. But assuming warm temperatures do kill the virus that just means that it will die on surfaces, it doesn't mean that it will die the minute it leaves your mouth so if you're in close quarters with someone and breathing their air it wouldn't matter if you're in a sauna.
These results could be BS. Those quick result antigen tests are known to be less accurate than the PCR tests but they are cheaper and return faster results. But if you're playing every week you're going to have to rely on them. It's also possible that 1/3 of the team did get sick that quickly though and if so then some may still have symptoms but it's very common for that age group to be asymptomatic or have such mild symptoms that they are dismissed.

None of the legitimate Tech fans said that. Don't go by what trolls say or your team would have a lot to be held accountable for.

Baylor line:
It's probably not a wise thing to do in a time like this, but it's a Baylor tradition for their entire student section to run onto the field and into the stands. It's usually much, much more than 500 btw. I'm sure that's their COVID-limited number. If the game isn't gonna happen now anyway, it doesn't matter though.

We are at 180k deaths just in the US, so its pretty deadly, no? I don't have a problem with a lockdown. At the very least, masks and social distancing should be occuring....like has been stated.

I don't recall anybody from LA Tech that said that. In fact, most of us LA Tech fans don't know anything about ECU, other than that's where Skip Holtz use to coach, and he won 2 CUSA football titles there.

I haven't heard anything about them since they left the conference. I totally forgot about them.

I know for a fact that Tech has done everything humanly possible to prevent anyone from contracting COVID. It is clear that there are enough people who BY GOD are not going to let this football season happen whether you want it to or not.
From the reports it sounds like LA Tech had everyone fend for themselves after the hurricane went through. Covid or not, that doesn't sound ideal.
Yeah listen to ODU for advice, About fell out of my chair laughing. You obviously have no idea what it is like after a hurricane.

Ruston is 200 miles from the coast. ODU has an elevation of 7'.
Please enlighten us to living through a Hurricane.

It was a category 2 when it reached Alexandria, LA. Most of the families of these kids came to Ruston from South LA. We got it pretty bad compared to most hurricanes in this area. A lot of people were without power for several weeks. Not trying to get up in the middle of this, just giving context.

I believe he is more referring to the fact that Norfolk/Virginia Beach see far more tropical systems (Matthew/Sandy/etc.) than Ruston. Which is why Dawgxas laughing at him for critiquing Tech's hurricane preparedness because "ODU doesn't have an idea what it's like after a hurricane", statement is so ridiculous.
The problem here is that Tech doesn't have hurricane preparedness protocols, because, well it's 200+ miles from the coast. I don't what you expect in this circumstance though. Hard for an 18-21 year old to tell their family evacuating a Category 4 hurricane "Coach said you can't stay here". I don't know what the right answer or protocol is in that situation, the fact that electricity was out for 2-9 days in the Ruston area only compounds the risk when it comes to contact with "non-controlled" individuals during the pandemic.

Exactly my sentiment. And you're right, natural disasters and pandemics are ugly bedfellows. I was reading today about the struggles they're having out west with the wildfires and people losing their homes and trying to house these people without creating a hotbed for an outbreak.
