ESPN+
In case anyone else is looking for options; with the probability of numerous Bearcat BB and FB games on ESPN+ this year I just added Disney Bundle With Hulu Live TV. I dropped Youtube TV recently due to their price increase. Cost wise this seems to be a better option $61.99 a month ($66 with taxes) ...getting all the Disney, Hulu and ESPN+ programming not included in the new Youtube TV price of $64.99 + Tax.

+1 on this.. I know Fox Sports and FSOhio has been dropped (and sometimes readded days later) from programming lineups. Can't keep up with it all but I'm considering dropping YouTube TV and switching to Hulu after the latest price increase

I've debated this. Switching is probably the right choice. But I really don't want to ditch my unlimited DVR.

Yes - I loved DirecTV but Hulu Live was the next best thing...at less than 1/2 the price. It is a little less user friendly than satellite/cable (no channel numbers to directly go to) but you get used to channels listed in alphabetical order by network (All Fox's together, etc) and it has all of my teams' (Cincy teams) channels. My 71 year old UC grad dad, who is admittedly not tech savvy, switched to Hulu and loves it. I have had the package (hulu, disney, espn) since December and haven't used ESPN+ once yet...until the UC game in a couple of weeks. I want ESPN for live TV, not their hot take, opinion shows. It looks like I'm going to need it now.

with regards to DirecTV and channel numbers: If I remember correctly from when I had it about 5 years ago, they display about a thousand channels whether they're in your package or not and the available channels are woven all over making channel numbers necessary if for instance you want to go from channel 205 to 419. I haven't found it to be necessary or a nuisance not having them at least with youtubeTV because they only show the channels available to you, they're grouped by category (FSOhio, ESPN, FS1, etc are all together), and takes 5-10 seconds to go through the roughly 60-70 channels. Just my two cents. I haven't missed the numbers.

I've absolutely loved live streaming since I've had it for about 5 years now. No contracts allowed me to go from DirecTV Now to YouTube TV and will probably make the switch to Hulu for the ESPN+ bundle. Just log in and cancel.. don't have to deal with a customer service rep spending 30 mins trying to 'save' you as a customer.

I'm not a big cloud/DVR guy so that's not a big loss, especially if shows are available through the channel app. Channel lineup and user interface is most important to me I thought both DirecTV Now and and YouTube TV were very user friendly, clean, and presented well. Hoping for the same if I go to Hulu.

I am one of the most patient people around but not needing to deal with cable customer service people and returning equipment is a true blessing of streaming services. Being able to pause or cancel quickly is great. Youtube TV was my favorite interface but getting used to Hulu live quickly. You do get 50 hours of cloud DVD in their package which is plenty for me. Only channel I might miss in the switch is AMC .

I don’t mind steaming. I mind the high school production quality and D List on air personalities that ESPN+ often delivers.

You've got me intrigued. I love Youtube TV but I did just sign up for ESPN + as I've been working remotely a lot and have to have it for FCC games (before I saw our FB opener was on there). I really like Youtube TV and even with the recent increase it's a substantially better deal than what satellite was for me. But if the Hulu package is close in quality and I can get all that other stuff I don't think that's a bad idea.

I've debated this. Switching is probably the right choice. But I really don't want to ditch my unlimited DVR.

Ditto. Also they just added NFL Network, although it looks like it doesn't include Red Zone.

Who added NFL network?

YouTubeTV did. Redzone was free yesterday; don't think that'll be the case going forward.

I have Direct TV.

I’m comfortable it’s it, and like the DVR capabilities.

Is there a way to get ESPN+ ala carte from anywhere?

RE: ESPN+
Sorry to dig up an old thread and sorry for the long post, but I'm late to the party in getting ESPN+. For the longest time I've been able to find "free" links to the Bearcat games. But I got tired of fighting the crazy ad pop ups, possible viruses, etc. So when I saw how many bball games were going to be on ESPN+. I decided to finally break down and join.

While I had no issues watching on the ESPN website on my computer, the ESPN app is another story. That thing is horrendous! Has anyone else had trouble with the ESPN App? For the life of me I can't get it to load on Firestick or on my Android phone. I can download the app, but getting it to actually work is pointless journey. I just get the spinning wheel of buffering death whenever I try and start the app. It never loads on either device. I can't comment on the broadcast quality, etc, because I can't get that far. It must be a common occurrence, because a quick Google search found a number of Reddit threads, etc. complaining about the App.

I haven't tried it on my Roku yet, but in the meantime, I will just go thru my computer and cast it to my big screen. If I would have known that the App doesn't work, I would have just stuck with my other means of finding games. If they don't fix it, I'll be cancelling ESPN+ after basketball season for sure.

I have trouble with it on my laptop, it freezes up several times during games but I don't know if the problem is with ESPN or Cincinnati Bell.

I subscribed for the first time also because of how many games are on there this year and it worked pretty well on our Roku tv. It froze early on in the game, but was fine after.
