Time stood still that day as we watched one horror after another

Had just left our Fort Lee office and was headed to Manhattan. As I approached the George Washington Bridge, I got a call from the office suggesting I should turn around. I’ll never forget.

My wife and I had been to NYC just a month before that. We were in shock watching it happen live knowing we were just there.

Fast forward 18 years and I took both my daughters to NYC and to the 9-11 Memorial. If you haven't been, it's a must. We went down the escalator and the first thing I saw was the iconic trident i-beam standing upright. I literally broke down in front of thousands of people.

Might have been a blessing in disguise because two teenage girls saw their Dad crying like a baby and they took the memorial tour very serious and asked a lot of questions. To me, it's about educating those that weren't born yet and teaching them the history of it all...like my parents taught me about Pearl Harbor.
