Burrow and Aj Green looked promising, though. Chargers are a solid defense.

The Bengals offense looked like garbage.
The only time the offense looked good was when the Chargers played soft on the last drive of the game. No idea why NFL coaches often go into that contain defense bull**** when they are winning by less than 1 score.
That was a really bad Charger team, so I am not going to say the Bengals looked decent. Hopefully, another bad season and we can get Taylor fired and start to really make some positive steps.
Taylor isn't the problem. In recent years, the team has suffered from atrocious OL play, weak QB, and injuries to Green. QB is fixed, green is back, but the OL is still worst in the league. Can't do anything with that.

Exactly! They missed on Jake Fisher too. Missing on these three (Ogbuehi, Fisher, Price) and letting some really good OL guys go has really hurt. Need to build up the line before anything else. Otherwise Burrow will be running for his life even next year.
I understand you can't nail every draft pick but, even if one of those guys worked out well, the o-line would be better.

Taylor is not the only problem, but just one of many problems. I am curious to see what the Bengals defense looks like on Thursday. I think the Chargers will have one of the worst offenses in the league, but the Browns actually have some weapons. I worry their tight ends will be a problem for our LB's and I think they have two very good runningbacks.

With regards to Taylor it's pretty unfair to judge him based on the talent on the roster. That said he was unqualified when he was hired as the #4 or 5 assistant on a good team and has not done anything to prove that wrong either. The Bengals holes in some or their roster spots like OL and LB were comically bad last year and seem to have improved to bad this year with some additions. But with a rookie QB and the lack of talent in certain areas even a proven quality HC would struggle to win 6 with this roster. If they get to 4 wins that's probably enough to have earned a 3rd season; assuming Burrow looks comfortable with his system.
Burrow looked really good for never having even a preseason game to adjust for the speed of the NFL. He missed some easy passes that when he fixes, Bengals win that game by 10 points.

For a 1st game, he looked very promising.
He did everything he could to hand the team a victory on that last drive. Too bad Fat Randy crapped the bed.

Dalton's ability to get the ball out quickly is the only thing that prevented a ton of sacks last year. The line is bad and it's a rookie trying to learn on the job so he's not going to make the quick, precise decisions Dalton made. We're going to see sacks.

I'm not down on Taylor (yet). I like the call of going for it on 4th down on the opening drive. That's something Marvin would NEVER do.
I'm not sold on DC Lou Anarumo. I still think Taylor should have hired Jack Del Rio. Del Rio's defense was a HUGE reason why Washington beat a heavily favored Eagles team in Week 1. But Lou having to start out the season without his All-pro Atkins and one of his starting DB's is not an ideal situation.

The defense looks atrocious. How do you have nobody covering hunt on that play?
