Hurricane Sally
It appears hurricane/tropical storm Sally will hit the New Orleans area early tomorrow morning and reach Hattiesburg early Wednesday. It is expected to cause significant flooding and possibly tornados. Good luck to all in the region.

Let's hope Hurricane Sally (which sounds like a drink to order) passes thru and clears out before LA Tech's game against USM in Hattiesburg.

Looks like much more of an AL issue other than the coastal flooding at this point and long gone by Saturday.

RE: Hurricane Sally
Sally has laid down a bit in the gulf, basically crawling to a near stop in terms of movement. That's possibly good news for USM - even if it could leave to really bad conditions along the Florida and Alabama coast lines. But it is eventually projected to move north a bit so if it really doesn't move much westward before that northern turn, inland Mississippi (and New Orleans) could be spared a bit from the worst of it. I feel for the northern Gulf Coast from Mobile thru Seaside, FL and points due north of that though. Still a bit too early to know fur sure, but the slow moving storm definitely makes it closer to Hurricane Harvey than Hurricane Laura in many respects.

New Orleans' hurricane warning has been lifted. It does appear that Mobile, AL is the new predicted landing for Sally, so Hattiesburg will likely just get some rain. Best wishes to Alabama and Florida residents.

RE: Hurricane Sally
Rain has been in short supply in the Houston area during the past 4-5 weeks, but we've seen our share of hurricanes in the past also. So while we need rain here, we don't need it that bad. Y'all stay safe.

We going to get a lot of rain, just wish the storm would speed up to at least 10 miles an hour to hurry up and get out of the area. Also our schedule works out great that we are not playing UAB Saturday.

3-5” of rain expected in Bham...flash flood warning...Southern AL is going to get the worst but looks like just rain and it’s not as low-lying area as New Orleans

So it’s going to suck to live in Troy this week but that’s true every day so shouldn’t be an issue

RE: Hurricane Sally
Latest update is storm made landfall near Gulf Shores a couple of hours ago as a Cat 2. It still continues to move very, very slowly and historic flooding is the biggest concern. As of a couple of minutes ago, a graphic I saw from Gregdeeweather on twitter (he must be a local weather guy out there?) showed estimated rainfall totals between 1 and 2 feet basically from Gulf Shores to Panama City over the past 24 hours. The highest totals were just east of Pensacola. And of course, there is more to come so 3 feet of rain in 36 hours is very possible for some of those areas (and one would expect long power outages there as well).

This was really bad in the Pensacola area lots of damage considering its a cat 2 storm. I hate being an essential worker. Everyone gets to always stay home while I have to work 3 day long shifts. Feel like I've gotten repeatedly smacked by a truck I'm so exhausted.

God bless all you essential workers. Thanks for what you do.

Get some rest...

Thanks, all you essential workers. But remember this - at least you still have a job.
