Completely caught the Tech faithful off guard. He wasn't super well liked by the average joe Tech fan but his results speak for himself. I am curious to see how this plays out.

Not surprised. You guys do more with less better than just about anyone else I know. Was only a matter of when, and maybe the timing will actually benefit both schools. McClelland will be able to get a head start for Vandy in this pandemic year to prepare for what will hopefully be a more normal year of sports next year, and LA Tech will hopefully be able to get a head start on finding a replacement before next year as well.

Didn't Vandy "disband" their Athletic Department and roll it's functions into one of their academic departments a few years ago?

Like many Nashvillians, I grew up with dual loyalties (mine were Vandy & MT). When MT decided to commit to Division 1(a) now FBS; then it was Adios Dores! One thing never changes at Vanderbilt. They have one of the most disfunctional athletic departments in the country! While VU has been 100% devoted to baseball (since Corbin arrived); they've been far less supportive of MBB (in the last 10+ years); and VANDY never gives more than lip service to Football. So, good luck, La Techster. You're gonna need it if they are bringing you in to raise $ for FB facilities. 01-wingedeagle Hope ya gotta big raise to come to Music City.

He was never more than a mercenary working to build a resume.

My assumption is that is true for all of our ADs, Coaches, and more and more true for the players.

Good luck LaTech on hiring a new AD. It helps us all to have good ADs in place across the conference.

Yes, Vanderbilt doesn't have a formal athletic department. It's handled under the office of student life which oversees all student clubs and organizations on campus. Doesn't really mean much though. It still operates exactly like any athletic department.
