Ouch! Not playing an SEC or Big Ten team here. A halftime score of 35-7 should not happen against Liberty, regardless of their record. Hoping for a turn-around in the second half.

About half our team has not played in two weeks or are completely out due to Covid. Add to that the CUSA actively trying to give Liberty a win. It's a miracle we are still in it. With the two scores. I'm sure the refs will start their magic again here though to make sure we don't pull off the miracle.

The refs. The announcers agreed on how silly the penalties were on us all game. For one of the plays our running back was called for holding when he had the ball and ran it down for a touchdown.01-wingedeagle

At halftime, I really expected Southern Miss to simply curl up into a fetal position and wait for the game to end. But give them credit — they came out swinging in the 2nd half and kept on swinging right up to the very end.

True, Liberty’s offense was just more than USM could handle. But the Eagles showed some grit and fight today. Encouraging for the future.

Y’all played through the end. Well played by the Golden Eagles!

The refs were a joke, but Liberty was the better team. Going into the season I considered this one a tossup. After the USA game it was an obvious L. The play of Whatley and other backups (especially in the 3rd quarter) was encouraging. We actually changed our game plan at the half and exploited weakness on O and D, which never happened under Hop. New coach won't find the cupboard bare.

Have to admit I don’t feel so bad anymore for our last loss against them.

Liberty will probably go 9-2 this season, plus a bowl game to be named later. Yes, most of those “9” wins are against bad (or worse) teams, but so what? Sign of a good team is never losing to bad teams.

Our loss hurt more than you will ever know. We have only lost to them one time - and it was too much to bear. Most residents of Virginia despise Falwell and by extension - Liberty. But our last loss to them still makes my skin crawl.

That was purely on that SOB Wilder. I hated that game and sorry ass play calling. That Garbage Muffin shouldn't be coaching at FBS period and it wasn't like they are coaching a bad team. We had like 4 NFL players(although a couple were short lived) on the roster plus some practice squad that year and they gave us that sorry ass season with that talent pool.

Agreed. As I’m sure you know well 12th, we beat a ranked VT team the same year with a QB that was on the bench for the liberty game. And that was Wilder’s call to not play him.

Yep that's the high note of that season(The low note being me burning my season tix after that Liberty game) and yeah BL shouldn't have been on the bench to begin with. BW and his nincompoops are esp bad at evaluating the talent. They started Shuler when we had David Washington, They started Steven letting BL warm the bench. I am glad that nightmare is over with.

We get those falwell pricks again in Lynchburg next year. I’m betting Rahne gets the W wilder couldn’t.

They have one of the best coaches in FBS in Freeze and are spending boatloads on everything. He may get hired away after thiss eason, but they have the money to hire another great coach in his place. I think ODU beating Liberty will be a fluke going forward.
