RE: C-USA Bowl Projection Tracker (Updated 11/5)
Once again, thank you for this. Does anyone know what are the contractual CUSA tie-ins, and what dates they are on?

I don't know how they are going to reasonably expect our two CUSA championship teams to play in any bowl mere days after the championship game, let alone play any bowl the week immediately after that championship game.

Of Marshall's bowl options Birmingham v. Missouri is most attractive, I'm sure App St. would like another shot at Marshall but play a team twice in one season doesn't seem that appealing. Can't understand why a bowl wouldn't try to pair Marshall and WVU, not that a lot of fans could attend, but why not try to create a in state rival game? Same guy that matches Marshall against Missouri puts WVU v. UTSA.

Do you really believe WVU would agree to that, knowing this is our best team in many years?

I no more want to play the Who than I do Abilene Christian in Abilene TX, but I say pair them up and then let Shane Lyons decline the bowl and set at home. That would be some good karma.

Im pretty sure Shane Lyons hates Marshall more than Rich Rod, Ed Pastalong and Bob Huggins combined.

All Cheribundi (Tart Cheri) Boca Raton Bowl options are great, but I wouldn’t mind Troy or UL in the cure bowl.

Marshall will play in the C-USA championship game on Dec. 18. You have to take into account what day the bowl game will be played. One projection has Marshall playing in the Myrtle Beach Bowl on Dec. 21. That's an impossible turnaround. The two teams playing in the championship game will need at least six days (I would think) before playing in a bowl game.

The Big XII will protect them from having to make that choice.

If we win out (we should be favored in the remaining games) I’m fairly certain we will be playing in the Boca Bowl not only for the covid issues but because the Marshall (who should win the division but we know how that has played out in the recent past) will play the conference championship game only a few days prior so CUSA won’t be able to continue with the CUSA champion in the bowl as they have wanted to do.

I like a Houston match up, someone new but a UCF matchup would draw more people to the game.

I'm glad someone else is starting to realize, it's impossible for Marshall to play in any game before December 26th.

So that's why I asked, what are the current CUSA bowls?

It seems that Marshall and whoever else plays in the championship will have to play in a non-CUSA bowl, am I wrong?

December 19 Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl vs. American Athletic or MAC or Mountain West

December 22 Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl vs. American Athletic or MAC

December 23 R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl vs. Sun Belt

December 24 New Mexico Bowl vs. American Athletic or Mountain West

December 31 Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl vs. Big 12

Am I missing any other contractual CUSA bowl tie ins? How horrible is it that we have a bowl tie in the day after our CUSA championship.

If this holds the form, CUSA is going to have to find another bowl for the other team in the CUSA championship, or Marshall can do everyone a solid and just play in the NY6!

RE: C-USA Bowl Projection Tracker (Updated 11/5)
Bowls per conferenceusa.com

Quote:C-USA BOWL SYNOPSIS
Conference USA has announced the league’s
bowl lineup that will span the six-year cycle
from 2020-25. The conference is guaranteed seven bowl appearances in each year of the new cycle and will have associations with up to 16 different
bowls.

As part of the new bowl cycle, C-USA will annually send teams to the Bahamas Bowl against a Mid-American Conference opponent, and to the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, against a Sun Belt Conference school. The league has participated in all six Bahamas Bowls and has placed a team in the New Orleans Bowl 14 times in its first 18 years. As previously announced, the league will continue its relationship with the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl. C-USA is guaranteed to send a team to the Shreveport, Louisiana-based bowl in 2021 and 2025, while holding a secondary agreement with the bowl in the other years of the cycle. C-USA will also continue its long-standing relationship with the SoFi Hawai’i Bowl. The league is set to participate in the Honolulu based game in 2020, 2022 and 2024.

The conference’s remaining guaranteed selections in the cycle (either four or five per season) will include the LendingTree Bowl (Mobile, Alabama) or from among 11 games which are owned and operated by ESPN Events.

RE: C-USA Bowl Projection Tracker (Updated 11/5)
Per the AACs website an annual tie alternates between Hawaii vs. MWC and AF bowl. CUSA was scheduled for Hawaii and the AAC for AF for 2020. Looks like the Big 12 is in AF this year as well per their website (updated 10/30/20).

Bowl Game Date / Time (CT) Site Matchup Network
Guaranteed Rate Bowl Dec. 26 9:15 p.m. Phoenix, Ariz. Big 12 vs. Pac-12 ESPN

CFP National Championship Jan. 11 7:00 p.m. Miami Gardens, Fla. Semifinal Winners ESPN

https://big12sports.com/news/2019/5/23/211718886.aspx

This doesn't mean that things can't change, just that this year's primary AF bowl ties (set before the pandemic) are supposed to be between the Big 12 and AAC. These should be the ties in 2022 and 2024 as well though it's the Big 12's last pick which may not fill.

This doesn't mean that things can't change, just that this year's primary AF bowl ties (set before the pandemic) are supposed to be between the Big 12 and AAC. These should be the ties in 2022 and 2024 as well though it's the Big 12's last pick which may not fill.

The more the dust is starting to settle, the more I think no one is actually going to have ties this year.

For example, we have two CUSA teams that will need to have access to some of these post December 26 bowls, there's no way we're going to catch Cincinnati unless they lose, so Marshall will not go bowl-less, neither will our other CUSA championship team.

RE: C-USA Bowl Projection Tracker (Updated 11/5)
Marshall for sure isn't going bowl-less. Other G5 conferences are in the same boat with respect to champ games and bowl dates. Since geography is supposed to play a bigger role this year, Marshall to Birmingham makes more sense than a TX bowl...and would be against the SEC.

ETA: Agree on Cincinnati, unless they have an off day or covid issues at key position groups, don't see anybody in the AAC besting them.
