Anyway, Carolina got in because they took #10 Miami out back and well, we don’t use that kind of language here. They had a couple flubs early on, and played Notre Dame tough. Obviously there was no way Miami was going to get the Orange Bowl, and conference tie-ins are a thing so...

My point is that there seems to be a hierarchy in the G5. There are teams like App State, Coastal, Louisiana, and even Georgia Southern that can be just as good as Cincinnati, Tulsa, or UCF in a given season. They too get passed over for the conference name it appears.

Without auto-bids declaring a direct path before the season, the same problems are going to appear.

The G5 only gets ONE TEAM in the NY6 every year. There will always be an argument for someone who got left out. It is what it is under the current format. You can say the same thing about Bama, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma, etc. There are other teams that can make an argument to be invited to the CFP. It is what it is under the current format. In terms of your accusations against Cincy fans, I simply threw your flawed logic back at you. If you make a weak argument then you open yourself to rebuttal. I have no problem with you personally but you seem to have a hard-on for Cincinnati football that you constantly go out of your way to bash our program. So yeah, it gets noticed.

I am just illustrating the fact the same thing you guys complain about, Coastal is complaining about. Aresco does it and he’s a hero, this guy does it and he “has too much time on his hands”. You don’t think Coastal could have used that money?

You argument was lame. Carolina got in with an ACC auto-bid, not a committee’s choice award. It’s not my fault you don’t understand conference tie-ins:

The Capital One Orange Bowl will be the ACC (the champion, if not in the CFP, otherwise, the next-highest ranked team) vs. the highest-ranked non-champion among the Big Ten, SEC, or Notre Dame that’s not in the playoff.

On a side note, Carolina’s losing three of their best players to opt-outs. Even the major bowls don’t matter anymore. Get paid, my son.

Yeah, it’s not like we know there is a sustaining pipeline for Coastal to stay this level for a long time. This coaching hire was genius, and they will lose that soon enough. For a school who probably would have stayed at FCS if SoCon and CAA weren’t total knobs about it, the NY6 exposure would have been huge. The money extremely good for them.

And I’ll say it...Sun Belt isn’t going to be a pushover league like the WAC was for Boise. There is a robust top end of the Sun Belt that will be tough for any of its best teams to consistently upend. It’ll feel/look more like a poor man’s Mountain West without the big names like BYU, Utah, and TCU. Big money game would have done a lot for them to keep up with others.

In fairness, UCGrad1992, I seem to recall esayem has made some posts that were positive about Cincy.

Thank you, sir. It appears some Cincinnati fans have a hard-on for me, and my wife apparently. Not that I can blame them. 04-cheers

Fans will be fans. The UC supporters who post on this board are likely much more passionate about the Bearcats than I am. But I do strongly enjoy rooting for Cincinnati. I love both the campus and the city (and the chili!). My brother had a fantastic experience as a UC student living in the Clifton-Ludlow district. We want the Bearcats to do well.

As to the wife, I'm sure she's a lovely Carolina lass deserving of Santa's good cheer this holiday season.

04-cheers

I never complained about Coastal Carolina or lifted Aresco up on our shoulders so I don't know what you're talking about there. I understand conference tie-ins completely but that doesn't have anything to do with the argument at hand. I can't help that my point about your flawed logic sailed completely over your head [or you chose not to understand it]. Don't know how else I can make it more clear. Other than that, enjoy your Christmas Eve sir.

I hope you enjoy Christmas Eve as well.

First of all, it wasn’t my logic that the Coastal guy complained. I was just saying he had a point there that with the body of work and not having a Coastal vs. Cincinnati game, how can anybody reasonably tell which team deserved that bed of money?

Carolina got in the NY6 because of where they were ranked in their conference which is measurable due to the fact they beat the next two teams ranked behind them in the league. Convincingly. Cincinnati and Coastal don’t play in the same conference, they play in a made-up coalition of five conferences. I’m just anticipating this problem isn’t going away soon.
