Seems likely that once this farce of a trial is complete The Drumpf will again be exonerated, and made even more powerful, with only about 4-5 voting to convict.

Just as predictably, anyone paying attention will be able to guess who these 4-5 would be...

Quote:Speaking anonymously, several Republican senators have reportedly told The Hill that only five or six Republicans are likely to vote to convict Donald Trump in his impeachment trial in the U.S. Senate, well below the estimated 17 Republican votes that are needed in order to convict.

Since Trump's impeachment last week for his alleged incitement of insurrection of the rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6., there has been much speculation on whether or not GOP senators will turn on the former president. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who many believe could have the greatest influence on the trial, has yet to announce his intentions regarding the vote.

Still gonna be miffed a bit at Mitch if he blackmailed Trump into not pardoning Assange (Snowden on the other hand..nope, nope, nope) to prevent this impeachment from happening.

Good thing they had to wait long enough for it to be obvious any votes again Trump would finish their career. Otherwise some of the idiots would have gone along with the mob.

Interesting thought.

That brought something else to mind: When does the revenge porn tell-all book by Trump come out? He was far and away the most transparent and open to the press POTUS (not to mention the most investigated man in the world)of my lifetime, but you just know there has to be alllllll kinds of inside dealings and backstabbing that went on behind closed doors.

You know it's coming.

I have no doubt Collins will vote to convict. Politics aside, I think she genuinely wants to, plus her seat isn’t up until 2026.

For all other (49) GOP Senators, voting for anything other than Acquittal is a de-facto announcement that they are not seeking the GOP nomination in any future election. For a guy like McConnell who’s older than Biden, that would mean retiring at the end of the current term. For someone like Murkowski or Romney or Sasse, that would mean running as an Independent with Democrat support.

Maybe, but I think he holds on to his cards for future use by him and his kids.

But maybe... It would be glorious.

So, what’s the sense of Fransicko Nan pushing another useless vote?

Call your Reps and Senate swampers, this is beyond the stupid meter.

I don't even think most of their party understands why they are going this route. Utter insanity how they act.
