Why is D2 a sinking ship? For months on multiple platforms, you kept telling Matt Brown how wrong he was about who the WAC was adding. But in the end he was right because he did the work and got the FACTS. Now show us your FACTS on what says WT is headed to D1.
D2 is a sinking ship because they don’t charge their students exorbitant athletics fees so they can pretend to be like TCU and Texas A&M. Upper Iowa to the MAC!! BYU-Hawaii and Drury to the Big East!!!
D2 is not sinking as it is still an option in the Eastern half of the country. The future of D2 in TEXAS is in question.
Hopefully David clarifies but i wonder if he is looking at the questionable future of the Lone Star as a sustainable home for WT.
In the last 10 years, the league lost half of its membership with Tarleton/ACU/UIW moved up and the Oklahoma schools left for the GAC.
They added the Heartland Conference teams to shore up Olympic sports and Western NM for football.
They currently have 17 members (8 football). So far they have not cultivated more football teams.
The Southland just lost the Texas4 and needs football schools. The Lone Star footprint overlaps and offer potential replacements. If 2 of the LSC teams jump ship, LSC football goes into survival mode again. If the Southland take the 4 best remaining (Commerce, Angelo, WT, and Midwestern) the football part of the conference is sunk.
You would be left with East and West NM, UTPB (middle of west Texas) and Kingsville (along the gulf coast).
Thank you for the explanation. David, sadly, doesn't like to do a lot of explanation on his reasoning. (That's what I've found, anyway.)
I posted a link to a podcast from last September with the AD of West Texas A&M, and he said several large schools like his are not happy with the D2 leadership right now. He did mentioned about West Texas A&M and others will make a leap to D1.
That's all well and good, except it's from last year. Nothing since then? Okay.
More of the same. Move along, people.

The comments made in that podcast are the same type of stuff we post on this board and sadly David takes it as gospel. Also since that podcast, the same AD was instrumental in the decision to cut cheerleading at WTAMU.
