RE: Carolina Hurricanes
Three OT games in a row is a lot of playoff hockey for round 1.

Ha! I'm DEFINITELY on the struggle bus today. My day started with 7 AM meetings and i barely have any voice. Thank goodness they closed it relatively quickly in OT, only took maybe and extra 30 mins total. But I was so wound up by the time i calmed down it was damn near 2am before i fell asleep. That place was absolutely nuts. They got absolutely jobbed on that no goal. Foegle was in the crease first but had moved out before shot got there and it was clearly his own man who hindered his movement. Things looked Hairy there for a while start of third and then Marty came to the rescue, what a wrap around! That happened right in front of me i was about 15 rows up on the goal line Canes 2x side.

Bricks- I'm not one for calling out officials, but honestly, it was needed after the 7 power plays for Nashville game debacle.

Hopefully they close out in Trashville tomorrow.

It was the loudest and longest "REF You suck" chant i've ever experienced. Was talking to a buddy this morning he said he could hear crystal clear on the Bally sports broadcast

RE: Carolina Hurricanes
So glad i didn't decide to mail it in last night. We got to Wilmington late, turned on the game and they immediately went down 3-1. Looked sluggish and quite frankly terrible. Was just about to shut it off they made it 3-2 i thought, ok, have to stick around now. #rd period they played very well. Thank goodness that series is Over!

Now, they better show up for the entire series Vs. Tampa or it's going to be a tough go. Likely be going to game 1 or 2.

I felt the same way. Right after the 3-1 goal, I got up and started making dinner but turned the volume up. They played with more purpose and energy, put some pressure on Nashville and we all know what happened.

Once they tied it, I was back watching and the OT goal was a brilliant shot and stick assist.

Nashville's goalie was pretty impressive the majority of the game too, to give credit where it's due. There were quite a few Canes scoring opportunities that he outright just took away.

Soros was like that the whole series, basically standing on his head time after time. Without Aho's tip which changed the trajectory by about 6-8 inches i bet he stops that shot too

RE: Carolina Hurricanes
A must win tonight for the Canes. If they go down 0-2 losing both at home it will make it nearly impossible to come back. I'm still waiting for the regular season team that dominated 85% of the Reg season to show up in the playoffs. Front of net presence just hasn't been there. I'll be there tonight!

Serious, serious trouble. This very easily could turn out to be a sweep. With Nino already out, and Trocheck likely to miss time they will be without 2 of their top 5 scorers.

Huge bounce back last night. Goalie change, but honestly he gave up the same Ned did in games 1 and 2. The difference is the offense actually cashed in on opportunities.

Sad end to a season which looked like it carried more promise than another second round exit. Going to be an interesting offseason as they have a lot of FA and that includes Rod

Canes just made a mind boggling trade trading their #1 goalie for a bag of peanuts. He was slowly becoming my favorite player

I really don’t understand that trade.

Came out and said they wanted to free up cap space so they could make a big splash for a vet goalie. Now, i just read they are in talks with both Mrazek and Bernier to be the 1,2 next season. If that's what they roll with i won't go to a single game next year. Horse$hit. This front office is starting to baffle me more than the Yanks, and that's saying something@!

Haha funny to look back on this thread, and see the moves especially in Goalie that clearly have worked out :)

Great to finally get the monkey off our back by beating the Bruins in the postseason, but man that was much harder than it needed to be! I was at game 5 last Tuesday.

Disappointing end to what appeared to be headed for a great season. Rod has won a ton of games, but his teams are marred by penalties(usually in the bottom 5 in penalties taken) and he has the Keatts Syndrome of refusing to change things up when they are not working IE. the power play.

As I've stated previously, I am just a casual hockey fan, but it seems that the Canes are having a good offseason. Nobody knows about the draft, but they seemed to get some value with Trikozov. These picks won't help next year, but their trades seem to be improve the team as well.

Near term IMO it's been a terrible offseason. Historically they have drafted well and it appears they continue to do so which bodes well for the future.
My stick is they have lost some really important/good pieces from a team that was so close to getting over the hump last year.
So far they have Lost TDA(26 year old) who had a great year, was the captain of the PP and replaced him with a 37 year old Burns who has been very good, but 37 nonetheless. They are on the hook for 3 years at about 5.5 got him. TDA signed for 2-10. TDA also brought a much needed edge, which had been missing from past years teams. Last year for the first time, i feel like they didn't get pushed around.
They lost Trocheck to NYR, Not only is he a great player but also was a huge leader on that team. They also lost Cole, and Smith. Nino is likely gone too.
They added a solid forward from Vegas, but not nearly enough to replace what has been lost. It was reported they were about to sign Marchmant, who was a top FA out there, Dallas swooped in last minute and snatched him out from under us.
This almost seems like kind of a rebuild with the key pieces they let go, and given how close they were to getting over the hump that just doesn't make sense to me. To add further insult, most of the teams in their division have gotten better. It's going to be interesting to see how the rest of the offseason plays out, but I'm not overly impressed thus far.

How many more moves do you expect them to make?

You guys follow hockey a bit closer than I do, but I'm getting into it more. This is the first off season that I've paid much attention to.
