He's the first CUSA player off the board this year...not counting signees as I have no clue on if any CUSA team has had a signee drafted yet or not.

A 21 year old freshman? Sounds like me. But I was a Navy vet.

He played last year but everyone got that year back. He turned 21 the next to the last day of the regionals so he actually was also a 19 year old freshman last season.

2020 was his redshirt freshman year, but the season was cut short, so it didn't count. He had a pretty high number it would take to get him to leave, but this likely beats that number.

RE: 2021-22 baseball off season
I'm not sure if the numbers back this up for sure, but it looks to me a lot more college kids were drafted this year than normal (compared to high school guys). With less minor league teams these days (especially at the lowest levels), I suspect this is a trend for the future. More high school players will go to college (outside of the elite prospects), but college players are likely to lose most of their draft picks with their being much fewer rounds of the draft.

RE: 2021-22 baseball off season
Very excited how the draft turned out for Charlotte.

We had 2 guys taken that are mentioned but these guys turned down some offers to come back:

C-USA Player of the Year/ All American 3B Austin Knight
1st Team All-Conference LHP Christian Lothes
1B/3B David McCabe - Led Charlotte in HRs (14) despite only playing in half of the games due to injury.

He started all 54 games this year as a fourth-year sophomore and batted .258 with 48 hits, 39 runs scored, seven doubles, three home runs and a triple. He had 23 stolen bases. His freshman year in 2019 was stellar as he started 54 of 56 games for the Blazers with 64 hits, 14 doubles, five home runs 34 RBI and an astronomical 48 stolen bases.

With MSU losing a veteran presence in centerfield in Rowdey Jordan, the Bulldogs are hoping that Davis comes in and can fill at least part of that void.

Another top player for UAB transfers. Chandler Simpson headed to Ga Tech. Led UAB with 24 SB and was 3rd on the team with a .288 average.

RE: 2021-22 baseball off season
2022 baseball schedules slowly starting to be posted. USM will open the 2022 season on Feb 18-20 hosting North Alabama per the UNA baseball website. No other CUSA schools on their schedule

https://roarlions.com/sports/baseball/schedule/2022

Other OOC series in all likelihood will be a home series vs Jacksonville St and a road series at UL-Lafayette as we played them last year at the opposite sites.

Thanks for sharing. So sorry for the family's and ODU's loss. This is terrible.

RE: 2021-22 baseball off season
I know realignment doesn't care about baseball, but some of us do; I wanted to know what the landscape would look like with the proposed moves. Below is the average RPI for each team since 2014 (omitted 2020) and the # of bids (out of 7). That was the first year for the majority of teams who moved conferences last time.

And this was just a way to pass the time while I wait for my flight. It isn't meant to be taken too seriously.

RPI... Team... (Bids)

C-USA
36 Southern Miss (5)
88 Louisiana Tech (2)
90 Old Dominion (2)
123 FIU (1)
149 Middle Tennessee
161 Western Kentucky
177 Marshall

AAC
36 East Carolina (5)
47 Florida Atlantic (4)
75 Rice (4)
82 Tulane (2)
85 South Florida (4)
109 Wichita State
112 UTSA
124 Charlotte (1)
152 Memphis
155 UAB

Sun Belt
59 Louisiana (3)
65 Coastal Carolina (4) – 2016 CWS champions
74 South Alabama (3)
87 Georgia Southern (1)
114 Troy (1)
139 Texas State
147 Arkansas State
175 ULM
186 Georgia State
195 Appalachian State

Others
71 Liberty (3)
181 New Mexico State (1)
200 James Madison

If C-USA added Liberty, it’s a pretty even split between as 3 conferences honestly.
Assuming C-USA holds on to USM.
